+142 Doctors and Soldiers should not be given more importance than others, amirite?

Some jobs are more important than others, whatever your opinion is about it. If the road is closed bc a person did not do their job, you are inconvenienced. If doctor misses a heart attack when you complain about chest pain, you are most likely dead.

People die when road maintenance is done wrong.

Ur not thinking it through. The road couldn't be constructed at all if there wasn't a person designing it, so your doctor would not reach you

I can and have built roads. I can't diagnose and treat most illnesses.

Perhaps there aren't jobs that should be revered over all others. The opposite type of jobs that should be unequivocally condemned do however exist. Case in point: Telemarketers.

It's true that some professions are given more importance than others, but it's important to remember the value of all jobs. Even though a 9-5 job may not require the same skill set as a doctor or a soldier, it still requires hard work and dedication. We all have an important role in society and should be valued for our contributions.

Some jobs(just like people) are more important than others. With the coming of automation we will soon see that stark reality even more. An engineer who can design a machine capable of reducing plastic in the ocean may just be more important than the slam-poet or the 7/11 clerk. We should all treat each other with base-line respect, but the fact is we need more doctors, not more cashiers.

It is true that the 9-5 jobs are needed to provide for the doctor, but the doctor themself needs to put in the effort using the equipment. A person at a 9-5 is done at 5. Many doctors remain on call 24/7 for extended periods of time.

Doctors do, soldiers don't

Sanitation workers do more for public health than all the doctors in the world.

Yeah, I'd rather my kid turn out to be a doctor though.

I think it's important to emphasize that while some jobs are more important than others and should be respected, we can't forget the value of all of our contributions. No job is too small, and every single one plays an essential role in society. We should recognize and appreciate everyone for their hard work and dedication regardless of their profession.

>electric supply, a vehicle, roads, food, supply chain, and many other things which are provided by millions of people doing their 9-5 behind a desk this doesn't sound correct O\_o

What kind of meaninglessness job do you have and what was her name? The girl that's now dating a physician.

In regards to basic human decency, no, they should not. Everyone deserves basic human decency except those who refuse to give it to others (violent criminals basically). But we also can't pretend they don't do more important jobs than others. As a cashier, I would absolutely never think that a soldier or a doctor shouldn't be considered more valuable than me because at this point in my life, I do not provide as important or as serious a service as they do. That's a fact. Saving lives is more important than selling a burger. It just is. They should all be treated with respect, but we also should acknowledge that some people have more difficult or more valuable jobs than others.

Selling a burger is also as important because that soldier needs it to survive and ultimately save a life.

There are varying degrees of liability among different jobs to say ones not more important than the other would not respect these differences. In a situation where 10 people could die and one of them is a doctor, it would be wise to keep the doctor alive in an attempt to save more. In the grand scheme of things sure, all of our jobs help contribute toward a positive progression, but the life of others takes priority in importance imo. I also wouldn't say doctors can do no wrong.
