+181 People who claim that their favorite book is The Bible are being disingenuous. amirite?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

The only people I've heard say that are people I believe. The ones who enjoy going to Bible studies etc.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I mean yeah? But also a lot of us kind of lie about what our favourite book or is and say it's something that better reflects how we want to be perceived. I don't think it's something unique to Christians.

I don't think they're being disingenuous. If you actually read the Bible, it's very interesting. Action, love, intrigue, drama, suspence, murder, death, birth.

Have you ever read Book of Numbers?? LOL! Or Deuteronomy?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

What's wrong with Deuteronomy? Did you mean Leviticus?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Lol, yeah there's definitely parts where it's interesting. It's also got many many chapters that are boring AF.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You're not being honest with yourself it you say there aren't parts of every book that you speed, scan or flip through though?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Nope, I definitely have books that I read cover to cover without skipping anything. I've read the whole Bible a few times. There's so many mind numbing boring parts in it. Have you read the whole thing?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Any book can be your favorite book your opinion doesn't have a say on whether or not it is

by Anonymous 2 years ago

even if you have never read the book in question?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

The Bible has come to be my favorite book, and I read all kinds of books, all the time, every day. I'm that books on tape bitch riding down the highway with The Prince on aux. The Bible is genius and supernatural. It's like if an optical illusion was a book. I love it.

The bible objectively isn't even that bad of a book, it has a lot of plotlines and even ends in a banger with revelations.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I'm an atheist and kinda agree but believe me, i know people who really really really really REALLY love Jesus. They dont seem disingenuous when they say the bible is their favorite book. In fact i doubt they have ever read another book. And to be fair, it is a big book, it can serve you for years.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I've never met a single person who said that, and if I did, I'd laugh and walk away.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You're lucky. I hear it all the time where I'm from and every time I feel like I'm being lied to.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Where the hell are you from? It sounds like a town where dancing is illegal.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I always assumed that people who say that are joking.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I'm not religious but it is a pretty good book. Greek mythology is more interesting though

People who claim that their favorite book is The Bible are just saying it for the sake of politics.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

It started with George W. Bush, and then all Republicans started using it as an easy way to get out of the question. Eventually they changed the question to "Other than the Bible, what is your favorite book?". Candidates still tried to weasel the Bible in as an answer and I don't think they even ask it anymore

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I've met so few who have actually read it, I also find it hard to believe.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

To me that is kind of odd. People who read at least one book a week who still haven't read the bible (especially if they are Christian). People act like reading this is anymore difficult than reading a textbook or a manual. Im not saying you are wrong just that I find it odd when people act like they do not believe me when I say I have read it.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Even most Christians I've known would probably respond with, "Sure, but what's your actual favorite?"

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I dnk man, have you ever read it? Some of that drama is *real.* I have definitely clutched my pearls more than once.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

So I feel saying the Bible is your favorite book is like saying the complete works of insert author of your choice here is your favorite book The Bible is not a book It is a collection of books granted it is frequently bound In a single volume for convenience Granted if you like getting the wisdom out of the individual books one of them could actually be your favorite they often contain a lot of wisdom with regards to life advice granted you might have to study to understand how that wisdom applies today but from that regard some of the volumes could be someone's favorite book but again the Bible as a whole is multiple books

You're referring to the "The greatest story ever told". It's certainly possible.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

It's an interesting and originally crowdsourced historical fiction with drama, action, comedy and romance, the most popular book ever, even if widely misinterpreted today

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Greek and Norse gods are far more interesting.
