I really wanted to enjoy the Witcher 3. Love the open world, the lore, etc. But I wanted to focus on the story and I kept hitting plateaus that could only be overcome by doing sidequests. Some of them are fun, but others are just boring.
Ideally I could just play through the story and then go back and do side stuff for fun.

I always considered it my favorite game of all time after the first time I fully played through it. Never understood why people hated on it because it seemed perfect to me.
However I just recently played through it for a second time and let me tell you...it was hard at times to keep playing. Not to say I completely HATED it, but now I can definitely sympathize with people who say the game is overrated.

I hope we acknowledge that its the third game in a trilogy here

I feel the same, and i'm personally on my 3rd attempt to finish the game.
I feel TW3 is an excellent sample of a great "thing" poorly translated into a game. The whole game feels and plays like a visual novel while everything else, gameplay-wise, is just meh.

Bro I don't think you like good video games "hate the amount of dialogues and cutscenes"

I've listed 3 popular games, GoT, Arkham Knights, Marvel Spiderman. None of these games have as much dialogue as Witcher 3.
Tell me a list of games that have as much or even more dialogue than Witcher 3 and I'll avoid those games.
