Reminds me of a little plaque my dad had "It's hard to be humble when you're as great as I am" 😂

I think I'm actually humble. I think I'm much more humble than you would understand.

"I too am incredibly humble." Who can guess what movie that's from?

Drax guardians of the galaxy volume 2

I was thinking about this the other day. There is no good way to bring light to your own humility, other than someone else doing it for you.

> There is no good way to bring light to your own humility... You can hint. Was that your hint?

how about realising that you are humble without ever saying it?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yeah to know your more humble then your friend, but you don't tell him because you know, humble.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Wouldn't it still be the same? You think you have something to be proud of, but you just don't express it out loud. You would still seem humble to others, but are you really humble?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That's actually manual vanity, automatic humility comes with the trim.

When it is obvious that you are humble you can tap reverse psychology by denying it to show you do not meet your own high standards for being humble?

When someone wins an award and says "I am humbled to win this award", I think "you're humbled? Why, did you think you deserved a better award?"

Calling yourself anything, casts doubt on you being that thing. The things we know to be true about ourselves, don't need to be said anymore than, "The sky is blue."

Well people constantly point out obvious things. That's pretty much the core of Finnish small talk, like "it's raining" "it's almost spring" "gas prices are high" and so on. Do you doubt it's raining, because someone pointed it out?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

When people are saying that in Finnish....arent they giving an unspoken opinion about those things? Like "this sucks" or "this is wonderful", dont you think so too? Because there's no point in just telling people something you know they already know. The end goal has to be something else.

Sometimes, it can be neutral too. Kinda like when you talk about yourself.

>Do you doubt it's raining, because someone pointed it out? Possibly, if I'm inside and someone says this to me, I usually go the window and see for myself...

Saying things that are factually true is not necessarily bragging.

What do you mean. Not only am I am the handsomest, the intelligentest, the friendliest, the wealthiest, and strongest man in the world, but also the humblest.
