+152 Drive (2011) is one of the worst movies I've ever watched, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

A lot of people don't understand that the film is essentially a story about a psychopaths redemption. This guy spends most of his life being used by others for nefarious or illegal things. He doesn't have autonomy, purpose or a better word "drive". He is essentially a shell of a man, a blunt Instrument. However he develops a connection with this child and woman. He start to feel more human but everything come crashing down when her ex enters the equation. At the end to protect the ones he loves he uses his skills to do what he does best. He finally makes his own decisions and uses his own strengths for an actual cause. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it's a great character study film.

I wouldnt go as far as saying is the worst movie ever, but people praise it more than it deserves. Its just another tough guy movie, except this tough guy doesnt talk too much. That is all, 6/10.

Maybe my mistake was watching it with such high expectations

Go back to marvel lmao, you don't like emotional depth, violence, incredible soundtrack and sad endings?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I hate marvel movies, and the soundtrack is great but not enough to make the movie not boring to me. Also, i saw the movie like a month ago and didn't even remember how the ending was like lol, I had to read it again.

I'm no movie critic, I am no expert on things like visual narrative and more specific things, I'm not hating on anyone for liking the movie and I'm not even saying that the movie is objectively bad, this is just my absolutely personal opinion. Making up that I like marvel movies and then invalidate my opinion for that is not a good argument.

It's not one of the worst that I've watched, but it's definitely one of the most overrated. Soundtrack is good and the movie is pretty well directed, but I can't get attached to any character in it...

That movie is more about the look and feel than the story or characters. All of that directors movies are like that. Drive is more of a visual art project than a story and a lot of people expect something different going in

I can understand not liking but it's not a bad movie. I'll give you that it absolutely needed more car chases.

I liked it

I wish I could say the same honestly

Loved it! thanks for reminding me about it.

What are your favourite 3 movies in the last 10 years??

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That I watched last 10 years or that were made these last 10 years?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

If you're talking about movies that I've watched last 10 years then I'd definitely say Fight club. Everything everywhere all at once. Taxi driver but I'm not very sure about this one, it's difficult to choose only 3

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Sorry I meant that have come out in the last 10 years. Great choices though

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That'd be very hard, i don't go to the cinema very often so i don't watch a lot of recent movies. I just go with my nephew so probably just marvel and Pixar movies

I have to agree. But only because the protagonist was unbearable. I couldn't root for him in anyway, completely non relatable to me, other than that it was a well made movie with good themes. But the way the protagonist was written completely turned the film from an 8/10 down to a 6.5/10 for me. Cementing it as average. I don't think the problem was necessarily Ryan, but it didn't feel right either.

Then you haven't watch terrible movies

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I loved it but I kind of agree with what you said too. I think you went in with your expectations too high.

Try the movie " Baby Driver" instead.
