+161 VHS isn't obsolete and is often a better choice, amirite?

How is it the better choice when I can pirate all those in 4K

My kids couldn't navigate all that. VHS is more simple.

Every kid I know knows how to navigate TV apps just fine and doesn't even know VHS exists

You should know more toddlers. I don't agree with OPs overall opinion. However, I raised my kids in the days of VHS. All they had to do was push it in the machine. My grandkids are using Netflix or apps or whatever their parents ordered. They can't turn the stuff on themselves. Well, the oldest can now, but he's no longer a toddler. VHS was much simpler to use.

Except for the fact that vhs is not a good storage medium. It degrades rather fast and is easy to ruin.

Steal. Let's call things what they are.

I'm not much of a movie watcher but if my movies aren't in 52k 12000p ultra ultra ultra HD, I don't want it. I wanna see the pores of the Actors and Actresses in upclose shots. I want it so high fidelity that it defies human perception. So BOO vhs!

I can't say that I agree. That was never important to me, I just like the story telling.

While VHS may not be the best choice for everyone, it's still a viable option for those who appreciate the format.

Isn't the word VHS exchangeable with any other word (that makes sense in combination with format) Examples: - British humour - cruise ship travel - scat porn - moba e-sports

Better at taking up space, but that's about it.

VHS wasn't even the best choice of it's time! It only won over Betamax because it was sooooo much cheaper. When it finally dies, movies will rejoice.

I'd only watch VHS movies now for the nostalgia factor, but since I'm not big on movies or TV series anyway, I don't really care. A streaming service for a movie once every 2 weeks or so is fine.

You're allowed to believe that haha

They also take up a bunch of space.

LOL, not complete nonsense, there was a period in where VHS were already obsolete but if you wanted to record something off your TV you had almost no options, and honestly this procedure has been phased out but not just cos of the trends, it was also cos DVD recorders for TVs were rocket science and pre-made video files are easy to find now

My mom, who passed away a year ago, was addicted to her VHS tapes, especially the ones of old Perry Mason episodes. The question became where the hell do you find a working VHS player. She needed to have 2. We purchased them on Ebay, we gave her any we had in our households (me and 5 siblings), but if one conked out she was anxious until she got a replacement. Unless some company starts making players, VHS is obsolete.
