Wikipedia is the only source I trust, amirite?

Wikipedia like anything else has a bias. Be skeptical of any article that is controversial or niche
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's funny since Wikipedia does a lot of sourcing from books.

Not saying wikipedia is untrustworthy, but you should never trust a single source
Wikipedia is one of the better ones, but you should always at least triple source info before doing anything real with it (just using it for fun facts is fine though)

I mean, the point of a book is to take in a larger amount of information and digest and interpret it yourself. The point of Wikipedia (as an encyclopedia) is to provide, as much as possible, a set of facts. There are some books that have a clear and activist thesis, and others don't, but your job as the reader is to take it all in and react accordingly.
But to see the world of literature, even non-fiction writing, as set over and against the use of an encyclopedia is sad. How intellectually boring that perspective must be.
