+146 Mental health issues are contagious, amirite?

This isn't an unpopular opinion, it's just factually untrue. Study after study and mental health professionals have found no link to what you're asserting.

Oh no I've caught the schizophrenia

I agree in long term extremely unhealthy relationships. But generally, moods are contagious; mental illness is not.

That factor is one fairly small part. The bigger pieces being social, economic, environmental, familial, etc circumstances. And of course some amount of genetic susceptibility

Well yes, but actually no. It doesn't spread like a virus spreads, therefore it doesn't actually meet the medical definition for contagious. That being said, misery does love company.

That's a lot of words for "I don't understand mental health issues"

And "I want them to be normal because they're upsetting me otherwise [what's perceived as the issues spreading] and it's [current year] so everything should be curable"

Exactly. The human brain is far from being fully understood by science/medicine. So any sort of health issue that originates in the brain has a high chance of currently being incurable. Scientists/Doctors don't know what causes a lot of things. Unfortunately, I'm an amalgamate of several of these health issues so I'm very intimately aware of this.
