-36 If you are a victim of porch piracy on an expensive item, it's your own fault and I have no sympathy. amirite?

Edgy take being pro-burglary.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

OP be like "let's not blame the criminals for doing something illegal and instead blame the victims of said crime instead."

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I Never Said that. Porch pirates are assholes. But so are people who demand a replacement from someone for being robbed. Like it's my fault you didn't leave a note or take BASIC precautions on this $700 computer coming to you?

I live in a condo. The number of times I've had packages just left in the main floor lobby area just blows my mind. Luckily most of the people that live here are honest. But how do they consider this a secure and complete delivery? It didn't make it to "MY" front door. I guess this is good enough for some delivery companies.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It might not be ok with the company and I would call and complain.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Exactly. What was the porch wearing?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The porch was completely bare, out in the open, just asking for that burglar.

😂

That's dumb to be honest. If the delivery says it's supposed to be at the house a week or two later and decides to show up far earlier than anticipated while I'm out taking care of business, then that's not my fault. And I've had it happen twice in a row with my packages. Fortunately I didn't have anything stolen and had gotten my stuff early, but that's on the delivery service for that should anything had happened.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I agree. It's on the DELIVERY service, or the cops. Not the person who sold it. I had a long week and I'm really salty about it clearly lol.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

you can still have sympathy for people, even if they made an error in judgement or are victims of unfortunate circumstance

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Wait, doesn't the delivery driver need your clear consent to just leave it on the porch? That makes a lot of sense why that stuff is so common in the US then.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

what if they scoop it up before I can get outside? What if I am not home when the UPS driver comes? Why can't people just keep their hands off of other people's merchandise?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I am not defending porch pirates I'm saying people should have some level of accountability for package security.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I have never been a victim of porch piracy but I had delivery people drop their package on my porch even tho I was home. Without knocking. More than once. And there where also times when I got the message that a delivery was due on a certain date, around a certain time and arranged my sheduel to be home during the given time, and than they came an entire day early when I wasn't home.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Or, crazy idea, I know, but what if we just don't steal other people's crap?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

easy for someone who hasn't had a PS5 snatched off their porch to say

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Oh you mean like checking off to require a signature? That thing 90% of mail carriers fail to enforce? OP lives in some fantasy

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Meh-agreed to an extent. Things come up though. We can't always control our circumstances. Also sometimes the item comes sooner or later than expected. That being said I've had my share of porch theft 😆

Quick addendum to add I work in online customer service and the number of people who think we owe them a refund or it's somehow our fault for their own stupidity is astounding.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not all delivery notifications are accurate or timely, however I have paid more to get a required signature on delivery.
