Astrology is an easy target because it's faith-based like religion but without the whole "kill the non-believers" part of it to be concerned about. But also I feel a lot of it is somewhat earned. My interactions with folks like this at work, the bar, etc. is they typically assume your personality based on the sign you give them. It's quite insulting for a lifetime of experiences to be simplified into "that's exactly what a Sagittarius would say."

People hate astrology because it's religion for extra dumb folk. People unironically believe in judging others based on the month they were born. Not all of you, but a very loud minority at the least.

You're right-- I should have worded it better. What I mean is that I think people who don't believe in it can still entertain conversations with believers from a point of curiosity for what it's all about. I meant to say "enjoy the vibes and conversation" when I said "discuss it as a joke". Its like indulging in your opponents argument-- its still interesting to listen and consider. Whether you truly believe in it or not is your personal decision. It can still be cool to hear about it, instead of shaming the believers.

I get that but why do they get so triggered by the idea that people may not see the world like they do-- why are they SO SURE their idea of reality is the right one? I just think that cool people are open minded. People who get frustrated at ideas different than their own and hate on others for it are lame. And at the end of the day-- you can completely disagree and still enjoy the conversation. Why insult someone based on their beliefs?

It's normally those that value "intellectual honesty" and are huge science nuts that get all piped up about this sort of thing. I don't believe in astrology, either, but I also can't relate to anybody who gets wound up at others for believing in it.

It's cool and I like to read up on it sometimes. But people are insanely complex creatures and we cannot be perfectly explained with a single label. Reading horoscopes is fun, but me being a sag is in no way deterministic of my life

I just wish i could believe in SOMETHING. Yet superstiton and astrology and the like is shunned and religon and me tend to not mix as not only do i ask too many questions and think too much for thier liking, but i am lgbt which tends to not mix well with religon, or at least the ones i know anything about. It really sucks not being able to actually belive in anything.
