I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. Everyone I know thinks TJ is overrated and overpriced.

People I know say good things about it

its just a supermarket.
I get the peanut butter cups, Joe Joe's, and the cheap beer - along with other staples that every other doesnt have. I shop there when its convenient, but I wouldnt go out of my way for it.

The dark chocolate peanut butter cups for $1 are definitely amazing.

It feels overpriced and pretentious to me.

What's pretentious about it?
by Anonymous1 year ago
I can get overpriced, but how is it pretentious?

You need to go more than atleast 20 times to be even qualified to have this opinion

The food is mostly fine, everything else about Trader Joe's is a nightmare. No parking, way too skinny aisles, uncomfortably friendly people working there, and way too crowded. Let's not forget the 2 inch square platform they want you to put all your groceries on.
The chicken wontons are amazing though. But the place gives me anxiety.

the checkstand experience is the worst part of Joes

So don't go there.

I think it is great for people with dietary issues. My family doesn't eat a standard American diet and is able to get some staples at trader Joe's

I think the selection and quality is wayy better than Aldi
by Anonymous1 year ago
They have few good products and descent cheap wine, but otherwise, I agree that it is overrated.
The baked goods are always dry and not fresh, produce is bellow Kroger quality, and their sandwiches and wraps are damn right awful

A upscale Aldi's

Picky as hell
by Anonymous1 year ago
I agree with this, their produce isn't fresh.

Just better quality everything, most things are organic and whatever. A lot of people don't care about that or where their food comes from so they think it's completely fake bs or something. When I've shopped there it's actually been surprisingly cheaper considering how much I got, versus other stores like Walmart or Fred Meyer.
