It's not the generation you're in, it's just your age, amirite?

The world was getting better at one point then September 2006 Steve Irwin dies and the kids no longer have anyone decent to look up to

We had Mr Rogers, Bob Ross, and Steve Irwin to keep us upright from the 60s to early 00's. But we've run out of saints.

There is an element of truth to this.
For the last several generations technology and society has changed so drastically in a person's lifetime that by the time they get into their 50s and 60s life becomes almost unrecognizable compared to their childhood. They have a tendency to look at their childhood with rose colored glasses because they were sheltered from most of the negatives that existed at that point in time.
At the same time, young people have generally been more naïve, impulsive, and entitled than the previous generation at the same age. The age that each generation becomes a mature adult seems to be increasing with each generation. Boomers were expected to be adults at 18, Generation X at 25, Millennials at 30, and Zoomers have yet to become mature. This causes some generational conflict as older generations are looking at younger generations and wondering what they're doing with their life. There are socio-economic reasons why people are not maturing, but there is a certain amount of Peter Pan syndrome present.

Zoomers are objectively more intelligent than previous generations, because they've had access to information their whole lives. They're not more naive.

Don't confuse access to information with intelligence.

Access to knowledge is not the same as being wise.

Technically you're right - measured intelligence has been increasing worldwide for the past several generations - but for the wrong reason. Worldwide intelligence is increasing because of declines in worldwide poverty, and increased knowledge of the dangers of toxic chemicals. Basically, people are getting smarter because kids in India are growing up with more food, basic education, and a lack of tasty lead paint chips.
People in developed western nations aren't really getting smarter over time, since they've already more or less maxed out these stats.
Anyway, having access to information means very little if the information isn't correct, and if you do not have a good system for differentiating good from bad information.

no I am sure you are right. Can I sleep at your house tonight? My Mom is having friends over,

FWIW I think you are dead on. But as someone who suddenly found themselves "middle age", believe me that you have a choice to be open minded and cool or just to rail against the fact that things have changed. There's nothing about being "old" that excuses anyone for being cranky.

Luckily I only know one boomer with crazy opinions. The rest i know, I can ask technical questions about cars, house every detail. Its amazing.

Thank you, I always say that generational talk is pointless, it's all just a matter of your age, when it matters
