Not really, no. Knives and blades are essentially wedges and work on the principle of slicing/cleaving open a surface. A saw has teeth that tear away at a surface. Like if you cut a piece of wood with a knife you won't get any saw dust, unlike a saw.
A sword is just a big knife. A machete is just a big knife. A saw is an entirely different tool

What about a serrated knife?
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's just a 2 in 1 tool, like a spork. Serration is good for rough tearing so that the blade has an easier time cutting through the material

Which is exactly what a saw does. Given, some have 2 rows of teeth. Ive sawed branches with a bread knife before hahahah.

Bread knives are serrated. That makes the saws, not knives. They are serrated in order to tear through thick crusts on bread, something a knife is not adept at

A saw is lots of little axe heads tied in a very straight rigged row chopping opposite directions……
by Anonymous2 years ago
Essentially, yes, but the way they function in tandem makes them mechanically different than a simple blade
by Anonymous2 years ago
Exactly. They're chopping different ways forty or fifty times every stroke.
