Americans can only view nudity in terms of sex, amirite?
by Anonymous2 years ago
isn't swimsuit mandatory almost everywhere in Europe?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Europe is way too broad. In the UK, nudity is basically banned. In Germany, the FKK movement means there is a lot of nudity, naked people is common in lakes in the summer. In beach countries, it's accepted as long as it's kept separate from the main population.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Not strictly true, in Brighton there are plenty of nudist beaches.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Wasn't aware, guess I learnt something. However you probably can't be naked anywhere outside those specific beaches .
by Anonymous2 years ago
Depends on where in Europe.
Nudity is quite normal here in Denmark. Sadly, we have a lot of Americans come here and be like "disgusting, there are kids here!!" .. it's almost like kids, and adults, have this thing called a neck, that allows you to turn your head another way if you don't like seeing something.
by Anonymous2 years ago
No.
by Anonymous2 years ago
mmm, quite sure here in Italy it's mandatory almost everywhere, except maybe few exclusive places
by Anonymous2 years ago
Not in some of the Scandi countries
by Anonymous2 years ago
Do you think that's
>Almost everywhere in Europe
by Anonymous2 years ago
We're talking about spas and hot springs, not public swimming pools...
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's 6 countries. Europe has 44.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You're doing that annoying thing of putting an irrelevant argument into the proceedings to try and invalidate an opinion you don't like. I wrote Europe and Japan, which tend to be the two main examples of places where nude hot springs exist. Somehow you made the leap to 'they must be referring to every country in Europe.' Or maybe you just wanted to show off that you know more about geography than the average American?
by Anonymous2 years ago
BARBARIANS
by Anonymous2 years ago
There was no actual opinion presented here
by Anonymous2 years ago
You know grouping all Americans under one umbrella is pretty stupid right? The native tribes/bands each have a whole different culture for example.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Are there nude coed onsens?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Found the pervert
by Anonymous2 years ago
Why did you make it sexual?
by Anonymous2 years ago
TLDR : An American visited Sweden now speaks for all of Europe.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I'm European, I've seen the way you guys act around nudity all my life. The fact you assumed I was American shows your arrogance.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Oh really?! You talk just like an American exchange student after they get back from the "great country of Europe".
by Anonymous2 years ago
You're projecting..
by Anonymous2 years ago
No one with any education sees Europe as a monolith. What country are you actually from? Give us some context by which to better understand your assertions.
by Anonymous2 years ago
This has absolutely nothing to do with Europe, it's about America's toxic attitude towards nudity, why do you keep dragging Europe into it? I also mentioned hot springs in Japan, but nobody is focusing on that...
by Anonymous2 years ago
Hey, it could be Finland too. That's like almost all of Europe, right?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Like, totally! Finland is basically just a cold Albania, which is a warm Norway, which is literally a blonde Portugal.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I don't think we have any hot springs that allow nudity, or if there are it's not many
by Anonymous2 years ago
Today I learned America is the only country with public decency laws. /s
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's why they go abroad to pursue their lewd behaviour.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Okay, Stephen Gough.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Jokes on you, most Americans can't *afford* to travel! Take that, smart ass!
by Anonymous2 years ago
American citizens travel most out of any country, only second to Sweden occasionally depending on what statistic you consult...
by Anonymous2 years ago
It was a joke, I don't care if it was accurate or not.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Hell yeah dude titties woo woo!
by Anonymous2 years ago
And butts.
by Anonymous2 years ago
For sure, but mostly titties. Butts are where poo comes from 🤷🏻♂️
by Anonymous2 years ago
Tatties! 😅
by Anonymous2 years ago
That doesn't say anything about any one
by Anonymous2 years ago
Americans see a naked person and instantly make it sexual.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Anyone can genius
by Anonymous2 years ago
Commas are important.
by Anonymous2 years ago
So is breathing, eating and sleeping…what's your point?
by Anonymous2 years ago
It's quite absurd to generalize an entire nation as daft and uncivilized based on a few tourists' misplaced behavior. Surely, you do not have the mental bandwidth to quantify the entirety of American culture as having inadequacies about nudity and hot baths, do you?
It's called cultural differences, my fellow, and rather than pejoratively labeling a whole nation, you should embrace the prospect of learning about and respecting alternative cultures. Moreover, the sexualizing of nudity is an issue that transcends borders as it is prevalent worldwide, no matter the country or culture.
So, let's not be so quick to improperly vilify an entire group of people based on the actions of a minority. Good day, sir!
by Anonymous2 years ago
Found the offended American. Welcome to Unpopular Opinion!
by Anonymous2 years ago
Found the person who doesn't understand that making a generalization doesn't mean it's representative of what 330 million people think and feel.
by Anonymous2 years ago
What is an opinion? Do you know?
by Anonymous2 years ago
a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter.
You made a generalization is what I'm pointing out that is very easily debatable and not unique to Americans
by Anonymous2 years ago
How can you call a generalization an unpopular opinion? Many people would agree that making a generalization about people often leads to a weak logical conclusion, so yeah I guess technically most people wouldn't share that opinion. Does that mean you're stubbornly holding onto this one because........ you're not smart enough to see the ineffective generalization? I'm not sure that's a flex.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Neither is perving on people in onsens
by Anonymous2 years ago
Luckily I don't do that, so I'm not really concerned by this lol.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Eyes here blud
by Anonymous2 years ago
How exactly are they being pervy? They made eye contact? They talked to you?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Hmm I can't tell if you're just angling for blue literature here...
by Anonymous2 years ago
Well, in absence of you explaining I'm just going to assume they said "hi" and you got all self-conscious about it. If being nude isn't such a big deal why get all self-conscious when someone treats you like they would in any other context?
by Anonymous2 years ago
So you've decided what happened in a hypothetical, isolated scenario, which you think is responsible for prompting the unpopular opinion?
As opposed to shared observations and research over the decades concerning different cultural attitudes towards nudity and hot spring culture?
Righto!
by Anonymous2 years ago
As opposed to shared observation and research over the decades concerning different attitudes towards nudity and hot spring culture?
Didn't realize that a small group was the same thing as 330 million people.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Just accept you're from a pervert people
by Anonymous2 years ago
>So you've decided what happened in a hypothetical, isolated scenario, which you think is responsible for prompting the unpopular opinion?
Sure did. And I couldn't help but notice you still haven't actually explained it. So what are these "shared observations"?
by Anonymous2 years ago
What's really sad is that he spent time actually researching this. He clearly has nothing else better to do with his life.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Not my research, but the research is out there if you care to look.
by Anonymous2 years ago
When we go to a sauna or hot springs, we wear nothing and yes Americans perve all the time
by Anonymous2 years ago
'Where der wimmins at?'
by Anonymous2 years ago
In a separate spring. Our springs are gender segregated and clothing optional
by Anonymous2 years ago
Strange how much the high functioning perfectly evolved countries or Europe spend their time talking about America. Something is off. And no I'm almost from west Europe. So don't try me with homerism.
by Anonymous2 years ago
We like to laugh at their barbarism from time to time.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Oh boy I can't wait for OP to interact with 3rd world country people, probably permanent mental trauma
