But A24 exists

Exactly. There are plenty of films produced independently or by lesser known production companies from all around the world that are a million times better and more entertaining than the mediocre stuff that heathen produced.

The fact that Weinstein was able to prey on so many women for so long is a testament to the toxic culture that's been allowed to fester in Hollywood. We need to make sure that no one else has to go through what those women did.

Fully agree

As a talentless actor , I appreciate the fact that I may choose to sleep with my boss to get a job and be famous. Some people choose this real world option, enjoy it, and end up in happy fruitful careers. I'm sure some of the women actually felt lucky for the opportunity.

What did Weinstein genuinely contribute besides bankrolling the actual creative talent?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Well that's the job of the producer which he was. Spoting and nurturing talent is a talent in itself.

Theaters have changed in ways that have nothing to do with Weinstein. Teenagers and kids are the only profit to be made. Even the serious oscar nominated movies that used to dominate the last quarter have been pushed aside in favor of kid stuff

I feel like you've worked backwards to that conclusion like the majority of director and writers he produced are still doing stuff. I don't even think he was as involved as you think like the plot of scream 3 is basically about him yet he produced it.

Can you name one great movie he made? One he had written or directed will be fine. No. Bankrolling a masterpiece doesn't count. Because that's not creative or artistic yourself. That's buying an artist's work or craft. If I buy a Van Gogh painting I don't get to claim I made it. You could. But it would still be incorrect.
Even if he wrote 90% of all the greatest movies ever I'd rather burn them and say they'd never exist if you can guarantee me that he didn't do all the horrible things he did.

Bankrolling a masterpiece does matter, much more than you think. And I m referring to his role as a producer here. I shouldve said a flair for producing great movies.
