There is no reason to fear or make a scene when you see a cockroache, amirite?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Sounds like something a cockroach would say..

If you see one cockroach you can rest assured there's more around
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah I no ,but you scream and cry and carry on like your being murdered when you see one ?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Because they're a sign of a uncleanliness, especially in restaurants and hotels
by Anonymous2 years ago
Still its no reason reason to carry-on like that ,
file a complaint with the manager or something no need to scream

Most people I know have a strong aversion to bugs, right or wrong. If I saw a cockroach in a place that is supposed to be clean I would be more than a little annoyed. I'm not going to make as a scene, as that's not my style, but I wouldn't fault anyone for doing so

I see your point but hear me out ... what if it can fly?
by Anonymous2 years ago
A flying cockroach landed on my arm while I slept, i woke up and cried with streams of tears and inconsolable sobs.
OP hates me, I know it. 😅
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's because you've never had a Paris Island cockroach beat you up and steal your wallet.
But I think most of the reactions from people I have seen are on par with seeing any other creepy crawly moving about the place.
by Anonymous2 years ago
There absolutely is a reason to be terrified one roach means there's more than one and they are very hard to get rid of
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah but do you scream and cry and carry on like your being murdered when you see one ?
by Anonymous2 years ago
No but it makes sense just scientifically why people do
by Anonymous2 years ago
Dude if we could control our fears and our reactions to them, WE WOULD.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Lol imagine having a skill issue
by Anonymous2 years ago
There's not a lot of cockroaches around here, so if I see one something is up.

Where I live, it's definitely regional. People from the south who deal with cockroaches all the time are like meh, whereas people from other areas are like OMG ROACHESSSS. Bug spray manufacturers actually put different labels on cans of the same product depending on where they're going to be sold (pics of roaches on the label for places where they're common, no roach pics in places where they're seen as a big deal).

Because if there's an infestation, it's anything but clean. They will poop and die and leave body parts everywhere. They're also very hard to get rid of when the population becomes established.
The only thing I fear is not being able to successfully kill them before they scurry into some place where I can't reach them.

Another opinion I tend to agree with, however, I worked IT for a cyber charter school. Occasionally a computer would come back that had been infested with cockroaches. The smell...roaches cooking inside the power supply, etc. It's hard to describe.
by Anonymous2 years ago
There's no reason to be afraid of spiders or heights or flying or snakes or confined spaces…
It's almost like irrational fears don't follow rationality…
by Anonymous2 years ago
Cockroaches are cute
by Anonymous2 years ago
If you see one, it means there are 3 more elsewhere nearby.

The ones in your kitchen are not the clean ones though... there are many manh species that are clean... this is not one of those. I mean they literally live in and off your waste.
And some people... ok many people, are afraid of creepy crawly things. Doesn't matter that it's a cockroach, it matters that it's a crawly thing. Could be a centipede or a grasshopper, and it can freak them out.
Also... people who can't use expressions correctly are also the worse. Probably worst than screaming about things that you fear.

I appreciate that you used the correct spelling. It adds flair.

I want to see a big ass cockroach fly across the room and land on your head and you not start yelling and performing sweet ninja moves.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Entomophobia. I am SEVERELY entomophobic and even a fly can make me screech, whether I think about it or see one, be it in person or in a video. There are reasons to be terrified enough to make a scene when you see a cockroach.
