The end pieces of a bread loaf are the best pieces. amirite?
by Anonymous1 year ago
We cut our sourdough at our cafe. We don't serve the end bits to customers. We keep them in a bag labelled "bread butts" and the staff eat them. It's the best part of the morning.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I work in a restraunt that does something similar, where we make the end pieces of baguettes into garlic bread
by Anonymous1 year ago
The old owner used to freeze them and make croutons. I'd rather the staff eat them though.
by Anonymous1 year ago
The end piece of sourdough is acceptable, but the regular sandwich bread end pieces aren't
by Anonymous1 year ago
Bingo!
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'm glad you use the correct bread butt terminology. I've heard some really crazy alternatives like heel. Who in their right mind eats heel??
by Anonymous1 year ago
'It's like getting a mini loaf of bread with every slice.'
by Anonymous1 year ago
I agree on the toast bit. They are so much better toasted than the other slices, I do prefer the middle slices when not toasted though.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I love the end pieces of bread too. It's like a ghetto bun.
by Anonymous1 year ago
That's such a great analogy lol. I've always eaten them and never understood the hate
by Anonymous1 year ago
In france it's called "le quignon", and it's a delicacy people are willing to fight for.
by Anonymous1 year ago
How is it a delicacy if the end of bread is neither rare or luxurious?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Now this is unpopular
by Anonymous1 year ago
I literally just eat the end pieces of bread loafs because they're so good. Don't even put anything on them.
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's actually called the "hoe" piece cuz everyone touches it but no one ever wants it 😂
by Anonymous1 year ago
Me and my little brother used to fight over the ends
by Anonymous1 year ago
The crusts
by Anonymous1 year ago
Finally someone who gets it!!!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Me too, yum
by Anonymous1 year ago
I actually agree! Give me bread butt
by Anonymous1 year ago
They are the best for grilled cheese or in a press.
by Anonymous1 year ago
One end is always thicker too. It sucks up more peanut butter. Why don't they cut it in half and give an even number of slices instead of an odd number??
by Anonymous1 year ago
I love the end pieces
by Anonymous1 year ago
For sandwiches I disagree, but the crusts moment to shine is dunking in soup, maintains its structural integrity and also absorbs way more soup than an inner slice
by Anonymous1 year ago
Don't nobody want the booty bread!!
by Anonymous1 year ago
TIL booty bread. From here on out it is booty bread!! I LOVE it
by Anonymous1 year ago
You're literally a buttmunch
by Anonymous1 year ago
nah
by Anonymous1 year ago
This guy right here officer
by Anonymous1 year ago
When sliced evenly with the same thickness as the other slices, I completely agree.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Just the heel, Julia!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Depends on the type of bread.
by Anonymous1 year ago
They are the best for peanut butter 🤤
by Anonymous1 year ago
Yeah, but you only get two of them 🥲
by Anonymous1 year ago
I want a bag of just bread butts
by Anonymous1 year ago
I like bread butts and I cannot lie
by Anonymous1 year ago
It depends on the bread. The multigrain or whole wheat loaves that I tend to buy are much sturdier, so the center slices are in no danger of falling apart. Toasting the end pieces can make them too tough and dry. Note that I'm really just remarking that different kinds of (sliced) bread are different, not that your opinion about end pieces is wrong in general.
Even worse are the people who don't eat the crusts on regular slices of bread
Then again, I am told not all people have as strong a teeth as mine
by Anonymous1 year ago
I wouldn't say they're better but they are pretty good. Only the wheat ones with the nuts for extra crunch
by Anonymous1 year ago
Great for croutons I must say
by Anonymous1 year ago
The butt ends are important in keeping the rest of the loaf moist. When it's done doing its job, I ceremoniously toast them and then heavily butter them up and spread a light coat of jam on there 🤤 it's honestly the best 👌
by Anonymous1 year ago
We call them "Katie Price" as everyone's touched them and no one wants them.
by Anonymous1 year ago
That's the hoe piece..everybody touches it but nobody wants it
by Anonymous1 year ago
They were always known as the heels of the bread. TIL…booty bread and that is what is shall always be. Thank you!
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's called 'the heel'. I can't believe this is unpopular but also I'm glad it is because people give me their heels.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I love the heel parts of the bread.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Lies
by Anonymous1 year ago
French bread? Yes.
Whole wheat sandwich bread? The worst part.
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's only good when the bread is freshly baked
by Anonymous1 year ago
I agree haha I'll only eat them if toasted tho if we're talking "good ole" sliced bread. But any kind of "real" bread that's the best part. Mmmmm crust and ends 🤤 when I was a younger I used to eat all the bread from inside a bun first just so I could enjoy the crust separately. My mother used to use the end peaces by tearing them up and putting them in a bowl with milk, banana slices and nesquick powder 😅 or bread that was getting a little hard haha.
I hate people who just throw them out, like that could easily be a toasted "bun" for something.
Anyways.
People call me weird cuz of my love for bread.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Are you an edge of the brownie kinda person, too?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Nope cuz I don't want a hairy chest.
by Anonymous1 year ago
They're not the best part lol. But they're hardly different from the rest. It's just more bread.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Grilles cheese with the heels are the best grilled cheese
by Anonymous1 year ago
Kys
by Anonymous1 year ago
Depends on the type of bread.
Any good crusty bread? Delicious, especially when toasted and buttered.
White sandwich bread? Blech.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'd rather starve than eat the butts of bread.
by Anonymous1 year ago

by Anonymous1 year ago
Fresh bread -yes, store bought sliced bread-no
by Anonymous1 year ago
I make homemade bread all the time for starts. But store bought bread ends, I'm not a fan. Homemade bread it's crazy good!
by Anonymous1 year ago
As toast yes. But I don't think I'd make a sandwich out of it unless that was ALL that was left, and it would have to be a pb&j or something
by Anonymous1 year ago
This is an amazing unpopular opinion. I'm gonna try that with my soup or chili next time, toasted.
by Anonymous1 year ago
This is an opinion I also grew into. It's like having the edge of a brownie, just extra texture
by Anonymous1 year ago
These pieces are called the hoe. Lol. Because everyone touches it, but nobody wants it.
