Idk if I'd call those "nightmares" just "action movie dreams"

Fair enough

I was talking about this the other day… I love having nightmares. The only reason I can think of is I love horror movies so it's my own personal horror movie. At some point in every nightmare, they become lucid so maybe that's the other reason.

Yeah, and also the sweet relief you feel when you wake up and realize it's not real.

I envy you, I can't stand having bad dreams, they ruin my entire day.

Then you've never had a real nightmare. When you wake up from an actual nightmare, you dont feel alive. You feel the panic of existential crisis. Being trapped in the hunger games isn't a nightmare. That just happens if you watch hunger games too often in quick succession.
You want a real nightmare? I want you to imagine youre on a boat lost at sea in the middle of a storm. Theres no land anyway, only rolling waves as far as the eye can see. Every wave coming for you, every crash of a wave against the hull a reminder that your end is near. The waves coming harder and faster, and no matter how hard you fight to keep your boat upright, you know you are going to fail. More waves make the memory of calm seas harder to recollect without despair at the longing to have them back.
This is your life. You are on that boat. And the waves will one day swallow you whole, leaving nothing but the mangled carcass of a run down boat drifting alone on an ocean of time with no sign you were ever even here.

I actually could enjoy this one. The real nightmares for me are for example when I kill my mother in them. Still feels good to wake up, but can't say I enjoy it.

I'm so jealous 🥹

Some people would call it fun

I like feeling uncomfortable 🙃

My problem is my dreams/nightmares can be extremely vivid, and they can remain in my memory as if they really happened, causing me to question if it was real or not.
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's a cool explanation. Endorphins are quite possibly why we enjoy anything. Not my choice, but may you have all the nightmares!

My nightmares are about missing exams and deadlines or all my friends telling me that they don't like me anymore lol

I can't agree or disagree, I've never had what I'd consider to be a nightmare.
by Anonymous2 years ago
They're like horror movies for your mind.

Nightmares are the only alarm that can wake me up

I once had a "nightmare" that the grim reaper was after me at a Dock. The sky's were falling while on fire in a way.
I bend over, death creeping closer by the second. Someone grabs onto me, and I begin losing my teeth, I could feel every tooth leave my body.
I start vomiting teeth, the feeling of it still haunts me.
I love it.

I don't know if I'd call it a nightmare if you aren't genuinely scared after waking up

i always wake up rock hard during nightmares , they are like personal challenges to me

Yh this is a very specific type of nightmare you're talking about. The other day I dreamt my husband died, it was not good.

In my late 20's early 30's I had a decent few years of night terrors. Paralyzed in my bed as I heard someone approach my bedroom, open it and I would always wake up in a cold sweat and terror. I liked that feeling because I don't feel many strong emotions so it reminded me that they were there and I was alive.

I like having nightmares too. They are like action/horror movies where you are the main character.
