Student Loan Forgiveness isn't about helping people it's about bailing out the banks, amirite?
by Anonymous1 year ago
You do realize, the government holds the debt right? Not the bank?
This isn't even an unpopular opinion, it's just a wrong opinion.

Damn, beat me to it

The loans are held by banks, but the government backed the loans. It's more like the government cosigned on them.

Thank you

Yeah cause the federal reserve isn't a bank right?

If you went to college to only end up working at Wendy's I say some real errors were made on your part and you're paying that money back
by Anonymous2 years ago
No there aren't enough jobs. Plus universities offer more and more degrees than ever. You have no idea what you're talking about. College doesn't guarantee a job you are paying for education/ degree. College isn't trade school dummy
by Anonymous2 years ago
I'm not the dummy who took on a dept and works at Wendy's
by Anonymous2 years ago
Neither am I but don't you seem a little mad and frustrated.

50% of the degrees colleges provide are basically useless... At this point college is just a scam for colleges to collect fat checks.
Providing an education or job skills is irrelevant at this point.
by Anonymous2 years ago
The reason there is so much student debt is because the government backed it. The ability to repay wasn't a consideration.
by Anonymous2 years ago
No it's not you don't understand the bigger picture.

Swing and a miss.

Instead of a college degree you can buy 60 pounds of Marijuana, flip it and make 160000 dollars. I've never seen a job flip money that fast.

Also drug dealers give out loans with little to no interest and no drain on the national dept

The working class people (mostly without degrees) are hurting these days - life expectancy dropping, addiction increasing, suicide increasing, finances getting worse, etc.
The whole idea of bailing out college educated people who tend to have a bright future is abhorent. We need to help the needy and that is not the ones with a degree.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Most college educated people are working class too. You have antiquated views on college. Anybody who can sign their name on a loan can go to college these days. There are too many graduates not enough jobs.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Goodness, college was certainly wasted on you

Tell that to my daughter who owes 66k and will likely not get close to paying it off. 20k would put a significant dent into that. They look at student loan debt when you are looking for a mortgage. You can't just say, oh well, I'm not going to make loan payments because I'll never be able to pay them back. It's the government servicing these loans.

She should be more focused on raising income the. That's more important than debt when lending.
