We suffer more in our imagination than reality, amirite?

The chronically ill community would most likely disagree. I know i do

Exactly I'm like nope.

Yeah, I have some permanently broken bones in my spine, and the rest of my body is falling apart.
I read the above quote and my response is: "Get on my level, scrub."

"I'm not sick, I'm ill" - Lil' Wayne

For me, I use the term "sickly" . Makes me feel like I'm the MC of a 19th century novel that dies tragically young of her affliction
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah. It just means they've managed to side step much suffering, which is good.

Pain is processed by your mind and everyone feels it to varying degrees that cannot be quantified universally. Still true.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I didn't imagine myself being bipolar.
by Anonymous2 years ago
A lot of able bodied people have a very narrow view of the world.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yup, I've had plenty not go my way, but my mind replaying things makes it 10x worse
by Anonymous2 years ago
Sounds like PTSDish.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I've suffered a great deal in reality because of my imagination.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Exactly my feelings. I have a job interview tomorrow, been nervous the past few days.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I bet you do great and get the job, good luck tomorrow!
by Anonymous2 years ago
Thank you !

It used to be that way for me, but as I grow older I seem to be able to manage my anxiety somewhat better. Meanwhile my feet are aching to no end.
Sometimes the mind is a respite from reality.

"A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come."
William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

In my imagination, I'm a Viking Ninga Cyborg.
Speak for yourself.

Ninga XD
by Anonymous2 years ago
Usually, but not always.
There are things that are worse to experience than imagine, and ppl that experience them, unfortunately.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Nah i suffer much more in reality
When will it finally end
by Anonymous2 years ago
You are lucky if life doesn't throw problems at you that can be worse than your imagination.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Trueeee. I'm so much better at handling real life stress vs. the stress I make up in my head lol
by Anonymous1 year ago
The lizard brain part of our minds likes to make things out to be worse than they really are.
by Anonymous1 year ago
In my limited experience, the couple times that I was hospitalized and teetering on the edge were smoothed over by my mind. Some of that time I was in some seriously serious pain, but it doesnt seem that bad now. (Ten years later). Maybe our minds just try to make our lives a little more averaged level.
Did that make sense?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Lots of people suffer so much in their imagination that they make their reality insufferable
by Anonymous1 year ago
That's because reality is often disappointing. At least in our imagination, we can suffer as badly as we wish to
by Anonymous1 year ago
For most of history of humanity, the opposite has been true. We live in a time of the hopes and dreams of our ancestors.
by Anonymous1 year ago
May this always be true for you.
For some of us it is not true, at all.
by Anonymous1 year ago
"Pain is inevitable.. suffering is a choice" I read this somewhere and it stuck with me
by Anonymous1 year ago
I suffer in my imagination because of reality; but suffer in reality because of my imagination.
Which is worse?
by Anonymous1 year ago
I wasn't aware that we suffered in our imagination at all. I certainly don't.
by Anonymous1 year ago
As someone with conversion disorder, I have the unpleasant experience of the opposite.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I have a parallel universe in my mind to experience a lot of action

Who's the "we" in the sentence? White men in countries in the capitalist core?
If that's the case then it can be true, but still you should consider the working class that has to live hand to mouth.
No, suffering is real, death and exploitation are also real.
