> I know it's sacrilege there have actually been studies that show that most people enjoy a piece of work more if it's been "spoiled". something about how knowing the ending entices you to want to find out how that ending comes to fruition. of course the natural instinct is to go "la la la la i'm not listening don't spoil it please!" but the studies show that it really doesn't negatively impact a person's desire to see a thing. that being said i will read plot synopsis of old movies on wikipedia all the time and when i read one that sounds interesting i'll make a point to watch it. insane behavior in my mind, but i enjoy it!

It absolutely does ruin movies for me. I like to get surprised with the plot and I find that makes me want to watch it more than if the ending is spoiled. For example, if the end of Avengers: Infinity War had been spoiled for me, I wouldn't have wanted to watch it nearly as much. I already know what happens, why pay to watch it?

are you saying "why would i pay to watch it?" or are you saying "i did not pay to watch it". again the movie isn't just a reveal and then it's over. it's several hours of storytelling and build up to get to that point. most people (again this is a study that said a majority of people, not every person) still want to see HOW that plot point comes to fruition. yeah you know that jimbo dies or whatever. but HOW does he die? also a tangent here, but in marvel movies ... does that even matter? marvel movies are always going backwards and undoing things they did, aren't they? aren't they constantly killing people then bringing them back then killing them then bringing them back?

If it's a show known for plot twists it would absolutely ruin it.

Honestly I'd rather get SOME spoilers for a movie in order to know if it's going to be worth a net 4 hours of my day and a bunch of money (me and rest of family). The alternative would be to do all that, disappointed I didn't spend time and money differently.

Honestly I feel the same🫠

Same here, is the plot is relying on a single plot twist then maybe is not as good as people thinks, but tbh I don't really seek them out, is just when I find one I say, ok, cool, let's keep watching to know how that happened

Red Dead 1 or 2?

There's whole communities and channels on YouTube dedicated to spoilers. A lot of people like them

I loooove spoilers! If anything, they make me more interested in wanting to consume the media.

by Anonymous 11 months ago

I'd never spoil it for anyone else, but yeah. Same.

by Anonymous 11 months ago

Same!! Someone told me it's an anxiety thing. That not knowing what's gonna happen makes me uncomfortable and I go look for the spoilers. Not sure how true that is but makes sense in a way.

by Anonymous 11 months ago

Yeah I usually don't actively look for spoilers but I never get pissed when something is spoiled either.

by Anonymous 11 months ago

I usually do this with horror movies/stories. While watching them, I'm like a tank - not much reaction to jump scares and stuff. Afterwards though...haha I'm looking back and forth, up and down lol So yeah, I end up just searching all about it to see if I'll enjoy it or not and is it going to be worth me being paranoid for a few weeks over it.

by Anonymous 11 months ago

Wait, I get this completely. If I binge everything with no spoilers, I can't accept that it's over. I then look through interviews and others' feedback until I'm sick of it. Spoilers help me lose interest, so I'm not completely heartbroken. If I don't get spoiled, then I take a break from the show and come back later, so too much time has passed for me to have the same level of excitement.

If you get upset over spoilers, you either need to mature mentally or get off the internet.

by Anonymous 11 months ago

I agree! I have always believed that if something is good then knowing the outcome should not male it less enjoyable. I can watch good movie multiple times over and enjoy it just as much every time.

knowing the outcome of a movie or video game does nothing for me. ill still watch or play it. its about the journey not the ending. Even if i know they die ill still be sad Many people like to genuinely be surprised though and i get it

I'm kind of the same way especially for TV shows since I honestly don't even have the patience to blindly jump into a random series. I need to watch a few clips that give me an idea of what I'm actually going in for. I did this a lot for The Sopranos and after watching the entire series, I think it might be my favorite show.

I've always found I enjoy shows and the like more if I know major spoilers ahead of time. I like seeing how the show develops to whatever major twist, how the writers used certain concepts to actually develop this final product I've read and heard all about. It's also why I rarely watch things as they release unless it's an adaptation of something I can spoil myself on like a lot of anime are. I'm just way less hooked without the spoilers and tend to forgot about the thing and drop it. Hell, every video game I've ever played I've watched full length cutscene movies or lets plays of before buying after already spoiling myself via the fandom wikis. Read, watch, then play. I honestly don't get why you wouldn't want spoilers because I don't get how anyone can get hooked into a piece of media without them.
