+140 Hammocks look more relaxing than they actually are, amirite?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I feel the opposite. They *look* uncomfortable af, but I climb into mine and it feels heavenly.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

This sounds like operator error

by Anonymous 10 months ago

If you don't find hammocks comfortable you're not using them properly

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I've gotten some of the best sleep of my life sleeping in a hammock during field training with the army. You just have to use it correctly.

I love hammock camping! Find some trees on a beach, and fall asleep swaying to the breeze. Wake up with the surf crashing on the beach. Heaven!

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I've done that on the porch of a friend's beach house. Aside from waking up covered in salt, yeah--it was one if the best night's sleep I've ever had.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I'm sure being exhausted from field training also helped.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Nah, I only ever brought it for the "chill" field training

Rio Swinging Chair. 10/10 I RECOMMEND THIS SWINGING HAMMOCK CHAIR !!! I'm sitting in it right now and the joy is IMMENSE

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I had one custom made with a faux fur lining and let me tell you... no other hammock can compete with the comfort and softness! Mind you, I can't use it on days that are deathly hot, but it's the best to curl up in in the evening while camping ^^

by Anonymous 10 months ago

So OP isn't even using a hammock right, but wants to say they are awful?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Sounds about right 👍

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I slept on one in my apartment for years. It was the best sleep I've ever gotten. You sleep diagonally not 180 with the hangers, not 90 to the hangers but more like 30-40 degrees from the hangers. Omg I miss my hammock

by Anonymous 10 months ago

You can get hammocks that don't squeeze you in and are easy to get into. I do agree that the type you're talking about are uncomfortable though.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

It sounds like you just really don't know what you're doing with a hammock. I've never struggled getting in or out of a hammock, nor have I had any difficulty doing anything else (literally anything else) in a hammock. It's ok to admit you don't know what you're doing.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I think you might be a bit chubby

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I'm a fat girl! Check my profile 🤣

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Have u tried a plus size hammock?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

It's because you are old. I was raised with one in my backyard. I practically lived in that hammock. I would sleep in there for hours. Then I could easily get out and play. Now, a few decades later I don't even want to try to get it. My back wouldn't be able to take it. We are just old. We are the problem not the hammocks. Lol

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Ha you're probably right

by Anonymous 10 months ago

say you're fat without saying you're fat

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Hammocks are fun when you're like 5 or younger. After that, they're pretty awful.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

OP opinion = I don't know how to use a hammock.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Or Or Get this There are different types of hammocks

by Anonymous 10 months ago

There absolutely are... and if you use them for the wrong purpose.. guess what.... You don't know how to use a hammock...

by Anonymous 10 months ago

What is a sunbed?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

They're the ones you see people lounging around the pool in the movies on.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

a lounger

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Maybe that's a British term. A lounger I think x

by Anonymous 10 months ago

That makes sense, google only shows pictures of tanning beds

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Nah/ buy yourself an Eagle's Nest. It'll change your life.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Hammocks swing

by Anonymous 10 months ago

We have a hanging hammock, but it uses metal poles and a trampoline like material so it can swing and rock but it holds its shape

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Try hanging the head end up highr than the end were you place your feet

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Honestly, this is like claiming that beds aren't comfortable after sleeping in a $49/night motel room.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I don't trust them, God forbid you set it up slightly wrong and suddenly you're on the ground.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Agreed. The hammock I have for my banana looks way better than it feels.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

They're fine for naps in the woods but I've never been able to relax in one long enough to make it worthwhile. We have one on our back porch, unused for years and a travel one I'll put up occasionally but isn't really worth it.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Hammocks give me anxiety. I always feel like one side is gonna give out

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Gotta get you a good hammock. I love mine. Read it in several times a week.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

The winterized hammocks are sooo comfy and cozy 😌 best ones I've even been in.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I love hammocking but it's unrelaxing because random people always walk up and go "Is that a hammock"

by Anonymous 10 months ago

If you have a quality hammock they don't "squeeze you in" lol

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Ah, the secret diagonal hammock sleeping position. I've been doing it wrong all these years!

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Diagonal sleeping? I've been doing it all wrong! Time to upgrade my hammock game.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

They also seem like they would be romantic but are even more uncomfortable for two.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Those ones from the Yucatan peninsula are awesome and very comfy

by Anonymous 10 months ago

How much do you weigh?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I'm a fat girl

by Anonymous 10 months ago

They always bend my knees weirdly.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Agreed, they make my mid back hurt.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Hammock is better for your back

by Anonymous 10 months ago

How much do you weigh OP?

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Depends on the hammock

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Yeah. Getting into them is a pain in the ass. Being in them is a nightmare. And getting out of them is suicide.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I actually slept in a hammock for like 2 years, don't know how I never got back problems from it

by Anonymous 10 months ago

That bc you're using them incorrectly

by Anonymous 10 months ago

Hammocks are the most comfortable thing you can lay on.

by Anonymous 10 months ago

I dunno if this is unpopular or not because when told my friends I love hammock camping most reactions are "there's no way I'd sleep in a hammock" but then there's also a big difference between those ones for gardens and ones for sleeping. When camping in one having the right angle is a big factor and if its its not then yea its not great
