The level of education you receive pre-uni is fairly important to get a strong base on concepts that will be further developed in uni. Exams are a good indicator for your grasp on those concepts. Also, grades are very important for admissions and scholarships and the like, if you want to get into a good uni or get good scholarships, grades are very important in doing so

Failing high school should be embarrassing.

See the issue is it doesn't matter until highschool not university, reason being you need generally good scores to get into a university with scholarships. The issue isn't really academics it's generally financial. I had a 3.8 and even I struggled to even be in college as they were increasing the needed GPA.

Ok now this is just an excuse to be lazy and feel good with yourself for not trying your best. You should always try your best. If you try your best and fail, then it's completely acceptable. If you don't try your best and fail, then don't make it acceptable. Forgive yourself, change your mindset and keep trying! No one's saying aim for a 10 every single time you have an exam. However, you should always try your best to get a good grade according to your abilities

The only education is self education. Most people fail this for longer than they should.

Lol, even university barely matters. All you have to do is get the diploma and that's all that matters. No one in the professional world has ever once asked someone what their college GPA is.

They do usually care what degree you have though.

If you have no experience, then it's not really uncommon for them to look at your GPA.

Primary education creates habits and strengthens certain skills that are very useful in college and later on. And as others have said takes very little effort to at least pass. Obviously not all aspects of primary education are ideal, but failing? I never understood that. I felt like I would have had to try harder to fail than to pass.

It depends on *why* you failed.
