Not necessarily. Left to nature, humanity would number in the millions, not in the billions. Technology has allowed plenty of people to live a full life who would have died without it. This means that our species now holds much greater genetic diversity than what should have been possible naturally. When astronauts bring back some unheard-of virus from below the surface of Mars that kills most of us, perhaps hemophiliacs will be the only ones immune to it and capable of restoring human population after that pandemic. Or maybe albinos, or lupus sufferers, or some other group we wouldn't consider the best fit under "normal" circumstances.
