Right of way should go to vehicles, amirite?

I don't know that the inevitable consequence of drivers being more careless around pedestrians is worth whatever the benefit of this terrible idea might be. Drivers can kill pedestrians. That's why it's the responsibility of drivers to yield to pedestrians.

If they maintain the bike lane sure when an accident happens and 4 months later there's still glass in the bike lane for you to pop your tire, then nah I'm not riding in it

100% support your bicyclists stance. But pedestrians cross a street through <10% of their commute. While road vehicles are on the street throughout the entirety of theirs. Let the little people get on their way.
