I think an apple more closely resembles a pear than it resembles a potato. But if you're looking for the fruit that most resembles a potato, I'll agree it's the apple. Or, wait: are you saying an apple is more like a potato than it's like a pear or any other fruit? I'm totally confused by your sentence structure.
