I love my banana bread and banana muffins with chocolate chips. It gives it a little extra sweetness and flavour. If you find chocolate chips bitter, use sweeter ones.

It depends on the chocolate. Milkier is better IMO. Going too dark on the chocolate overpowers the banana bread flavour.

Try small pieces of pineapple. Much better. Adds more moisture, and a lttle added sweetness.

Agreed, OP. Chocolate in banana bread is gross and should never be a thing. Chocolate chips as a cheat for moisture in banana bread just means your recipe is flawed and should be tossed.
