They're not as rare as their siblings

It really depends on where you live. I'm from Belgium, and I know a ton of only children.

Ah. Tri-state area (north east) USA. Everyone has at least 1 brother or sister.

Common in Europe. I guess maybe partly due to sex ed in schools being the norm an contraception being easily available for free and encouraged.

I'm assuming "cant" is a typo for "can"--or am I missing a joke? I'm an only, and so's my wife. (Neither of us are Brian, though.)

Thanks fixed it. But even if you are think of everyone you know and most people are probably have siblings.

Honestly, I don't know that many people well enough to say for sure whether they have siblings. Looking at extended family that I'm in reasonably close contact with, I've got two pairs of first cousins and two others who are onlys. My gaming group has four folks with siblings and two I'm not sure about. My co-workers recently quit, but they were one with a sister and one only. No idea about my boss.

This is not the case in China, however.

I saw that you're from the US. I guess maybe in Europe only children are more common. If I had to guess why I'd say it's down to better sex education, contraceptive usage and abortion availability.

You don't know many people then. Think outside your country.
