+143 Between Warm and Cold is Lukewarm but there isn't any word for in between Warm and Hot. amirite?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Lukewarm is about body temperature. Warm is just hot but tolerable. Freezing -> Cold -> Cool -> Lukewarm -> Warm -> Hot -> Scalding -> Burning In terms of how I'd describe temperatures experienced on my skin

Lukewarm is about anything that is lukewarm. It is not exclusively applied to body temperature.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Heh. By "about" body temperature here I mean around body temperature. 😆

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I would say it should be called Vaderwarm.

You're on the right track, but imo it has to be Leiahot.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You win. 😂

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Okay. You win. Can we please get this in the Oxford.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I wish there was a way to quantify heat.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

From what I've seen, lukewarm is warmed up from cold, but not all the way. Room temp is something hot that has cooled down as much as it will without refrigeration.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I believe it's called "just right"

Between warm and too hot is monkey hot, as you get into a monkey hot bath it's 'ooh ooh ooh' as you adjust to the heat, then settle in

Who needs a word for in between? Just call it 'room temperature salsa.'

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Mild or spicy salsa?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yes there is, simmering. Literally means under a boil, but too hot to touch, this would be the middle ground between warm and hot

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That sounds hot to me. Above 46 I would consider hot, unless there are context clues; for example talking about computer components. for something like bathwater / tap water then 46 is definitely hot.

Hot > warm > lukewarm/tepid > cool > cold. How hard is that to understand?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You have actually made my point even more with that list! According to that flow chart, there are actually 2 words in between warm and cold. Lukewarm, and cool. But there is NOTHING in between warm and hot, but there is clearly steps within that area that are warmer than warm, but not quite hot yet. That's the word I'm searching for.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This is the same as saying there isn't any word between cool and cold.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

What's cooler than being cool?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Ice cool 😎

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Finally, a word to describe that awkward temperature when my coffee is left untouched for an hour!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I saw Vaderwarm, but I'd go Leiawarm.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

How about lukehot? I guess that brings into question what lukecold would be but eh who cares

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I call it coffee temp

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Balmy, toasty, simmering, muggy

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Isn't the word temperate, or mild?
