Burnt seafood never existed on earth till humans evolved, amirite?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Fish wash up on shore and I'm sure a wildfire or lightning bolt has struck a fish.

AKSHuALLy, the meteor that hit the Yucatán peninsula might well have flash-evaporated a lot of water while simultaneously projecting enough energy to scorch the fish.
We must also not discount volcanoes near lakes.

Wouldn't that just boil them in most instances though?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Not necessarily, depending on the heat, distance and time, though I decline to do the math!

There are heat vents underwater hotter than anything humans cook with, I'm sure some fishes burned around those at some point.

Don't u need oxygen in the atmosphere to actually burn though? You can't burn anything underwater no matter how hot it is
by Anonymous1 year ago
Well First of all, there is oxygen underwater, and yes it takes a very particular set of circumstances, but there can be fire underwater. Magnesium torches are one example, and something can burn or char without a fire as long as the heat source is hot enough. Aka underwater thermal vents and underwater volcanoes. You can burn yourself with boiling water.
