+139 Prices for discretionary goods (eg Starbucks) will stay high as long as YOU keep paying for them. Inflation is your fault too. amirite?

I don't think you understand how inflation works. Starbucks isn't driving up the cost of everything, low unemployment is. Inflation is caused by too much liquidity in the system as compared to the amount of goods and services. This is the reason the govt shouldn't give away money or print too much. Because the value of a dollar drops and this drop is called inflation. With demand and supply, what should happen is other people see they can make money in the coffee business and start their own. You see this now with all the different types of brands. The market becomes over-saturated and to be competitive some of these companies lower their prices trying to out bid the others. So, the price falls.

Let's see: money printer goes brrrr, people are paid the same amount of money, or at least less raises than what would keep up with inflation, but still buying goods at inflated prices. Totally cool.
