I rent so I don't have the worry about property damage.
And I actually must agree. It breaks up the monotony, and there is something about kind of having that shared experience of severe weather with others (either in person, over social media, or talking about it the next day).

I love a good storm!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Yeah, me too, since I was a kid I always liked storms. Don't know what's wrong with me, don't really care 🤷
by Anonymous1 year ago
It is when you are home and safe. It is a nightmare when you are outside and driving.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Nothing like being on a covered porch in a thunderstorm and not a drop of water touches you. You feel invincible!
by Anonymous1 year ago
The best is on a hot summer day. The barometric pressure drops, and the day suddenly turns to night. No wind. The birds start chattering, knowing whats coming. Dead calm, then suddenly, the wind picks up, and the temperature drops 10 degrees. The storm has arrived.

"the wind picks up...."
\*cue wind chimes\* ✊ <3

Where is this gif from again?
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's from Forest Gump.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I have to agree. I love the excitement of it all.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Only when I'm home. At work, worrying about getting home trumps excitement.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Exciting until you realize your waist deep in water. Thanks Hurricane Ian!!!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Now that I think about it I also find it fun to just watch the storm take its course on the land.
And when there is no thunder or lightning and high wind but just rain, it is weirdly calm and peaceful.
by Anonymous1 year ago
As long as it doesn't kill anybody and actually make a family homeless, its all good. Just like watching a dog get all excited and play around is fun as long as it doesn't bite anyone.

My house burnt to the ground in a wildfire. So, no.
by Anonymous1 year ago
As long as it's not happening at night when I'm trying to sleep, I've grown to like it. Hated it as a kid due to my sensitivity to loud noises and flashing lights, but nowadays, especially at night when I'm awake, whenever a storm passes I'll sit out on the porch with drinks and watch it. Great way to pass the time when the power's out, too!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Sunny days are so boring. Storms are awesome.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I live on the edge of town, so I can sit on my covered porch and watch severe rainstorms roll in from the distance and stay try the entire time. I have a big heat lamp I can bring out and sit in a radius of warmth while I do it.
I'm a homeowner, but the house has been here longer than I have and has survived everything, so I don't worry about it. Wind is the thing that I worry about.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I agree. There is something about the bad weather that makes you cozy when you at home. Not when you are out tho
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'm just an average thunder enjoyer
by Anonymous1 year ago
There's nothing like a good thunderstorm. They put me right to sleep!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Nice thunderstorms are exciting, beautiful lightning show, temp drops, the glorious wind blowing, the color of the skies...
Severe heat, drought, snow, and flooding can f*ck straight off though..
by Anonymous1 year ago
In another life I think I would have been a storm chaser. Whenever I get a Tornado warning on my phone, I low key hope that it hits nearby so I can see one with my own eyes. Kind of like a moth to the flame thing.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Same
by Anonymous1 year ago
I second this. Love a good thunderstorm.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I agree with this. It's one of my favorite parts about snowboarding; battling Mother Nature.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Exciting doesn't necessarily mean good exciting. I think. Actually maybe it does idk
by Anonymous1 year ago
You need somebody to talk to
by Anonymous1 year ago
I also enjoy when people die in heat strokes, loose their home in floods and get their lives destroyed. Almost as fun as seeing car crashes and infant deaths /s
by Anonymous1 year ago
I adore storms.
Tho once I had to walk to work in a lightening storm and that was an adreneline surge haha
by Anonymous1 year ago
Agree, nature is awesome. Storms are a great glimpse into its powers

As an insurance compane employee, I must say : No.
As an average person, I must say : HELL NO.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Have always loved storms - but as a homeowner for the last 5 years, I get incredibly nervous when they get too strong. Definitely not as fun as they were while renting.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Yeah I'm that way with crazy wind. I really don't want to have to deal with replacing my roof. My property is surrounded by woods on all sides so I'm hoping that helps break the wind for me. I mainly love the lightning and thunder though.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I love how green plants and trees look against a dark gray sky and I love a downpour. I hate winds with a passion.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Have you ever seen the movie Parasite?
A flood destroys the poor family's home and they're forced to relocate. In a later scene, the woman in the rich family talks about how the rain was a blessing because it caused blue skies and cleared the air for their party.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Nope haven't seen it, but I have had my downstairs flood when it torrentialy poured down rain a few years ago. That sucked. I hate flooding, but I LOVE lightning and thunder, with some minor wind gusts. Distant tornadoes are also OK as long as they cause no damage to property lol
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's a privilege to be able to enjoy severe weather, people are suffering somewhere else
by Anonymous1 year ago
Spoken like someone who doesn't live in a part of the world where hurricanes, tornados and wildfires will destroy entire towns.
by Anonymous1 year ago
No, but I have been lucky and not suffered any major damage thus far. Torrential rain over a long period of time has flooded my downstairs and that sucked. The last damaging storms, the week before the 4th of July, caused lots of damage in the area. My heart hurt for the people who got trees on their house or cars etc., but it doesn't take away from the fact that I LOVE storms, always have. If we could abolish storms and nobody ever got damage/hurt/killed again, I'd be all for abolishing them. But as long as they are a fact of life, I will continue to enjoy them.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Oh lol, this is certainly an unpopular opinion!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Yeah but i worry about tornadoes.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Oh man, them you are just going to *love* what the climate has in store for the coming years.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Well, since it's been storming for millions upon millions of years, I'd say the remainder of my lifetime is secured for sure.
by Anonymous1 year ago
You ever hear someone say something and immediately think 'That's Ironic, but in the future'?
by Anonymous1 year ago
I've definitely pissed away far more hours watching CCTV footage of hurticanes & tsunamis han I have gentle breezes & soft waves. But I did go out of my way to move to a place with mild summers, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, no monsoons, no flood risk, earthquakes are super rare, tsunamis are unlikely, & volcanic erruptions probably aren't happening in my lifetime.
