The plastic ones are garbage but a good wooden one that supports your head is super comfy for lounging and will last decades

They suck for everything but looking at the sky and falling asleep without tipping over.

Can't play guitar in them, they're worthless..
by Anonymous1 year ago
Agreed. I once sprained my neck trying to drink a beer whilst sitting in an Adirondack chair.

I'm too short for them/they're too big for me. My legs never fit quite right. I think they're terribly uncomfortable. I'm not unusually short, just south of average for a woman.

Agreed. Adirondack chairs suck.

They suck for everything but looking at the sky and falling asleep without tipping over. the things you look for in a chair dont allow you to do these wonderful things.
by Anonymous1 year ago
In their defense, they are sturdy.
by Anonymous1 year ago
To their detraction, that means you can't justify buying a more comfortable chair for a longer amount of time because "This one still has some life innit!"
by Anonymous1 year ago
Maybe decades!
by Anonymous1 year ago
They always get super hot in the sun too! Last time I sat in one I felt like the back of my legs were about to catch fire!

I completely agree. I live in Maine and the damn things are everywhere.
I don't want to have to adjust the damn chair every time I want to do something other than gaze into the middle distance. And even if you do adjust them you are sitting in an uncomfortable position where it is possible to eat and drink, but your legs are weirdly high. It's like they are specifically built for looking at a lake but that's literally it.

Well, you just need a Muskoka Chair
by Anonymous1 year ago
I like them but loved your argument anyways.
by Anonymous1 year ago
IIRC its because they were designed for use in the side of a hill or something.
by Anonymous1 year ago
TIL these chairs actually have a name
I agree, never have liked them
by Anonymous1 year ago
2 and 3 you gotta be kidding lol.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I find them really comfortable

I love Adirondacks, you're out of touch with all of the points you raised.
These chairs have wide arms, perfect for resting a plate; are you sitting like you would at a dinner table no, but you're outside, it'll be just fine.
You have a hard time drinking at a slight back tilt? It's no different than getting comfy on a couch and drink.
Holding a conversation? How does relaxing in a chair inhibit using your mouth and ears?
Like everything in life, you get what you pay for; cheap chairs are uncomfortable, but good quality Adirondack chairs are the most comfortable outdoor seating that will last a decade.

Yeah I spent some good money on my Adirondack chair and I love it. I'll concede that if you're eating something that's best done at a table (like a steak or something), the chair isn't the best, but all of OPs other points are pure garbage lol
by Anonymous1 year ago
You need a higher quality of chair.
by Anonymous1 year ago
But they're cute when they're shaped like Michigan
by Anonymous1 year ago
Your not supposed to be eating, it's for relaxing not a dinner table.
by Anonymous1 year ago
They are perfect for reading though.

But sometimes parks, or furniture stores, or farmers markets will have one adirondack chair that is like 15 feet tall so you can get on it with a stepping stool and take funny pictures. That that is entertaining and whimsical (despite being uncreative)
by Anonymous1 year ago
My friend, if the Adirondack isn't comfy to you, you are not comfy to the Adirondack.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I agree. They just look nice in your yard.

Giving an award with my last 70 points for a truly unpopular opinion
