+208 Honking as soon as the light turns green is perfectly acceptable. amirite?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I had someone honk at me literally *the second* the light turned green. I hadn't even had a chance to take my foot off the brake yet. I put it right back down, sat there for about two seconds, and then went. Don't do that to people. It just makes you look like an impatient asshole.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

If you do that while behind me, then I'll be sure wait until the light turns yellow before I go, just to piss you off.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Good. I hope you end up pissing off a crazy person.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Cool, then we can see who's crazier.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You sound immature. Shouldn't be driving a car if you don't have the patient for a few second.

As someone who lived in a country where that's completely normal, please don't

Which country?

India

Audi made a special horn just for the Indian market, just to cope with the extra use

I don't think you want to piss off everyone around you at every single light. Statistically, you would be at very high risk of getting harmed by some road raging idiot. Honestly though, if someone honked at me with insane reaction speed the second the light turned green, that would be hilarious.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Every time someone does this to me, I get in the lane next to them, and keep my hand on the horn for one elongated honk, driving alongside them

by Anonymous 1 year ago

you're sitting that light a second time if you do that to me. be mad. stay mad. die mad about it.

I hate people that are always in a rush.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I'm really not in a rush. I just can't stand people who make things take longer than they *need* to. It creates a cumulatively compounding effect. You don't think anything of it because you're self absorbed, but that extra few seconds you're not moving when you could is the difference between extra cars making that light and getting stuck. One person does it, minor setback. Everybody does it, now there's accidents and slowdowns and it sucks for everyone.

You're making separate arguments. 3-5 seconds isn't " as soon as the light turns green". Folk who wager they can beep faster than you can place pressure on gas pedal are a very low form of life. Counting to three and beeping politely is fine.( unless you're from the Midwest, where folk are nice) Pick your argument.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think he means that he kept seeing people wait 3-5 seconds so now he just beeps instantly so everyone moves

Headline tells a different story.

You're gonna piss off someone crazy one of these days

Don't know if you know, but The Beatles did a great cover version of your username. I mean the actual name of the song. Yours is still really punny.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah, no. I came close to this recently because the light was malfunctioning and only staying green for about 5 seconds then going red for a full minute. There was a pile up of cars at the light because two, maybe three cars were getting through per green. I was finally the second car in line. When the light turned green, I gave the car in front of me exactly one second for their brake lights to dim and then I honked. And I don't mean a polite "uh, excuse me" tap tap kind of honk. I HONKED. I don't regret it one bit either. But I also don't regret waiting that second on the assumption that the driver in front of me was alert to the situation and ready to gun it. I only regret that the driver in front of me turned out to be a douche who couldn't care less about the people behind him as long as he got through. Still, if I'd honked immediately, *I'd* have been the douche.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

More than that. If someone does honk at you, it's not the greatest of insults and you're not now entitled to murder them

by Anonymous 1 year ago

If you honk at me for no good reason, I'll probably slam on my brakes assuming you saw something coming that I didn't. Hope you don't slam into me.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You are not mature enough to be behind the wheel of a car. If your time management is so bad that me taking 2 seconds to go at a green light makes you late to something, that's not my fault. And I will absolutely wait the extra two seconds if you honk at me the second the light turns green. Also, no one asked you to be the green light police.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nope! You do that to me and you will NOT be making that light.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Prob not making it anyway.
