I think that was the point. He was trying to make the hobby accessible to anyone.

It wasn't the paintings, it was the guy and his simplicities in technique.

His demeanor and the way he spoke was the attraction part of it.

A large part was that he taught us how to paint with a no judgment style (no mistakes), not that he is the best there has ever been.

Deserts & tundras are more boring than mountains & forests.

Well. Jazz musicians always play Jazz. A Japanese chef always make Japanese food. A scientist always talk about their own speciality...

Those mountain and forest scenes are his background. He picked up painting while stationed in Alaska serving in the Air Force. He was painting his actual surroundings in his earlier work.

Man, EVERYONE goes on and on about *Bob Ross*, but I never hear anyone say anything about Bill Alexander. Was I the only one who watched him?

It was never about the paintings

It was about sending a message.
But seriously... kinda was

Yeah, but thats becouse those are the easyest to explain the techniques on

Correct me if I'm wrong but I saw a video and it said that every painting he made was a journey.

bob ross was never about singular, striking paintings. bob ross was about the process of painting. it's more about the process than the final result. bob ross would crank out paintings. they were all very good paintings, but they were also all very similar.
people who appreciate bob ross appreciate him more for his process and ability to teach his process and share his love of the art than for any singular result from his efforts.

You weren't supposed to look at his paintings. You were supposed to look at his hair.

Because he's teaching you how to paint. Can't be elaborate if he's teaching beginners .
