+175 At least one celebrity has successfully faked their own death, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

El Macho didn't actually die. He just retired from the villain world, and opened a Mexican restaurant in a mall

by Anonymous 1 year ago

No way

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Pauly Shore did, and made a documentary about it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Then it wasn't really successful was it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That movie was fantastic lol Grim Reaper reach around?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

What a weeeeeaaasel!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

*weasle noises*

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Buuuuuuuddy

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I've seen Sean Bean die about 20 times

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I can't not read this as seen been

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Andy Kaufman. He even talked about doing it for years. Then, gone. Even his own former costars have speculated.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah, and for a non-smoker to die of lung cancer at age 35? Sure, it happens, it's possible... but for someone who played wild, weird pranks, and joked about faking his own death, to die in such a head scratching fashion... adds to the suspicion.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

To tell the truth I don't know much outside of what I wrote. Lol

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And a science book? The French you took?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

History or trigonometry, either.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Lung cancer at 35 usually isn't associated with smoking, more likely his genetics.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

>Even his own former costars have speculated. I think they say that just to stoke the fires and it fits with the Kaufman style bit.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I guess we'll never truly know!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And that's part of the genius of Andy Kaufman.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Unpopular opinion: He wasn't that funny. As John Cleese once observed, "if people don't laugh, it is not funny. If they laugh the next time, it is funny again". I only ever laughed at a couple of his bits.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That opinion may not be that unpopular actually, at least as far as his stand-up goes. I think he was very divisive when it came to his act. For some people it hit in just a way that cracked them up, while others were not amused. And some found the humor watching those were not amused. I think his TV work is pretty universally liked though - Taxi, for example. The character was weird but pretty funny in a traditional sitcom way.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

My low stakes conspiracy theory is that he did successfully fake his own death at 35 and planned to reveal the prank in the future but actually died before he could.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It was Elvis. Watch the documentary Bubba Hotep

by Anonymous 1 year ago

He's not dead, he just went home.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You ever flashy thing me?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

We all confused.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

No.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

We went to Home Alone

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nope, he's wasn't at Graceland.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think he would have devised a less embarrassing way of dying.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Less embarrassing = less desired to be believed I guess

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nah. Tupac

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Elvis took down the third tower

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Elvis flew the plane into the pentagon

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Elvis wrote soundtrack for the moon landing, but Stanley Kubrick decided to to cut all of it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I have no speculation as to who, but I absolutely believe it is happened. Think about it. Being famous is actually a pretty miserable life. At least for anybody who enjoys any sense of privacy or who is introverted. There have to be people who are tremendously wealthy and tired of being famous, who have figured out ways to fake their death and start over with an anonymous life. It's really pretty perfect. Keep the money, but lose the fame? What more could you want. Not saying it wouldn't take a significant amount of planning. The money would have to be hidden away where it could be access later. But that is a triviality for most of these folks. The real trick would be minimizing the number of people who know about it. Perhaps an accountant? Maybe a plastic surgeon?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

to what end? Faking your death won't make you less recognizable. Practically speaking you could accomplish the same things and not fake your death.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Why not move to a different country where you are not as famous? Isn't that better than faking death? Also if you are a movie star or music star you can go inactive for a few years and people will quickly forget about you.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Pewdiepie has said in Japan nobody recognizes him in public which he found to be a relief.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I don't think I'd recognize him if he slapped me in the face with a ham sandwich

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Me neither. Probably would otherwise though.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Messi also said that in America cause everywhere else he goes he gets mobbed and last month he felt relief that he can casually buy groceries at a mall without someone approaching him cause no one would recognize him besides soccer fans Sadly Michael Jackson can't do that since he's known everywhere even in small villages so he had to wear a disguise everywhere he goes to avoid attention

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Also let's face it, disguises only do so much when you're as distinctive-looking as MJ, which probably didn't help.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That probably happens all the time as well. But at a certain level of fame, there would still be too much interest in a celebrity. If people believed they were alive. Having people think you were dead, would make it much easier to assume a false identity, change your look, and not have anyone ever really looking for you.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Weren't there an introverted rapper, that just closed up in his mansion, and now has 0 publicity and just plays xbox all day? Dont remember who he was

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Lol I hope you mean rapper

by Anonymous 1 year ago

My bad

by Anonymous 1 year ago

>The real trick would be minimizing the number of people who know about it. Perhaps an accountant? Maybe a plastic surgeon? Yes... Maybe a plastic surgeon or a reconstructive mortician? SEMPRE VIVE! LIVE FOREVER!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

NOW a warning?!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Could this be why so many people die at 27?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Most if not all famous people at least in show business live for the attention, even low key characters. Really don't think any of those characters would give it up unless they go infamous for something bad they did

by Anonymous 1 year ago

*Thank you...* *Thankyouverymuch.*

by Anonymous 1 year ago

*\*Sigh\** if you say so bud...if you say so.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Lil tay

by Anonymous 1 year ago

She wasn't trying to fake her death iirc

by Anonymous 1 year ago

What does iirc mean 😭

by Anonymous 1 year ago

if i recall correctly iirc

by Anonymous 1 year ago

If i remember correctly

by Anonymous 1 year ago

if i recall correctly

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Thanks 👍

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You're right but it still happened? Right? The world was completely convinced she was dead

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think she technically didn't fake her own death. Someone else faked her death.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Allegedly

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Agatha Christie famously faked her own death.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not successfully though; because if we know about it...it wasn't much of a success lol

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Hey Michael Jackson

by Anonymous 1 year ago

He's still alive just want to be out of the spotlight

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Krusty pulled it off

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Argh, that's Dancin' Pete!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Don't sweat it. The life of Rory B. Bellows is insured for a surprisingly large amount.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Elvis Presley got radical reconstructive facial surgery, became Glenn Danzig.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And had his legs cut off below his shins?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Since this isn't prog rock, no one will know the band The Residents. While they originated in a different state, they sort of settled in San Francisco and did a lot of show there and abroad. One of the band members was known to have terminal cancer, and one day the SF Chronicle ran his obituary. The next day they had an article by him, saying something to the effect of: oooh, so close, but not yet! About a month later they ran his obituary starting with something along the lines of: this time it's really true, and we're very sorry to report his death. I think he *loved* the mixup. It's not often you get to read your own obituary.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah Tupac obviously.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

In order to get away from Jada.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

He's living on an island with Princess Diana. They're a couple now.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Don't have to be a celebrity to fake your own death lol just need a lot of money

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah obviously, but celebrities are the people we know by name and have conspiracy theories about.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Agatha Christie did it once to try and frame her husband (I think?). She was eventually discovered though, so technically "successful" but just not permanently successful.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Andy Kaufman perhaps, at least that's what I'd like to think, but it's probably not the case :(

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Why is that a certainty

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Eddie Wilson, form Eddie and The Cruisers.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Unless you know who it is then you have no logical reason to say at least one, but if you know who did it, then it wasn't successful

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Elvis just went home.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Jim Morrison and Andy Kaufman definitely

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I have a theory about the basketball player James Harden, that after he retires he's going to shave off that enormous beard and then he'll be stinking rich and virtually unrecognizable for the rest of his life. That's what I would do if I were him, anyway.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Did Andy Kaufman write this?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Jesus fooled everyone.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

To be fair, Jesus actually *did* die. He just got better later.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not him, his followers did

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Richard Simmons kind of did

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's probably harder than you're thinking though. Think of the "sightings" of Elvis, which went-on for decades. We're quite sure he actually died, but people longed for, and hope for for him to be faking-it forever. It'd be impossible for Elvis to have actually faked his death, because his later discovery would have been a certainty, if only a matter of time. Now, most celebrities aren't on the scale of Elvis, but even C-List'ers have at least a few stans that will never give up.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Richy Edwards of Manic Street Preachers

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Paul Walker did it just to get out of a contract to make more fast and furious movies

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Wow…that's a low blow. Paul **ADORED** the Fast and Furious franchise. Him and Vin Diesel were like brothers and got to create a globally loved franchise, saying anything negative about that is just wrong. You may dislike those movies, that's fine, but you can't say that a Paul faked his death to get out of them.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I believe this may be what's considered... A joke?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah it was more likely to avoid the backlash of dating a teenager in his 30s

by Anonymous 1 year ago

how would you know? and why would they even do it? It's easy enough to fade into obscurity.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Obligatory: Biggie and Pac are still alive!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Elvis might've done as witness protection because he informed on the mafia after they stole one of his planes. The way he died is part of why it worked, because who would fake their death like that?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I'm most surprised at the article mentioning the wife's "large artificial breasts."

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not a celebrity, more like politician ig… But my dad researched a lot about WW2 and the holocaust out of curiosity, and my dad believes Hitler faked his own death

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That‘s debunked since the 1960s or so.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I've been hearing my whole damn life about how Tupac is still alive. Every other person I meet has a theory as to where he's been.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Howard Hughes is the first one that comes to mind.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

They made a move about it. Eddie and the Cruisers.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

They are all living in penthouses down the street from Howard Hughes in Vegas!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Adolf is in Argentina

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Betty White for sure

by Anonymous 1 year ago

At least all of them, that's until we see them alive..

by Anonymous 1 year ago

So Little Tay is a celeb?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Metro Man is the pro at it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Please let it be Andy Kaufman.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Heath Ledger and Kurt Cobain just hanging on a beach somewhere probably.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

To this day, there are Russian historians who believe that Alexander I successfully pulled this off in 1825. He died in the remote town of Taganrog on the Black Sea, where communications were poor.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Jeffrey Epstein had a burner 0hone he used to pay people on the inside and outside to help him fake his death. He's still alive with lots of plastic surgery done. That's my opinion.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah, it was Pauly shore

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Also at least one non celebrity I'm sure of that

by Anonymous 1 year ago
