One reason northerners are more hurried than people in the south is bc it's cold instead of hot. amirite?
by Anonymous2 years ago
I think it was Sweden that had this phrase at one point. "If you're cold, you're not working hard enough."
by Anonymous2 years ago
Sweden also has "There are no bad weather. Just bath clothing".

I love wearing my bath clothing outside in Sweden!

As a Puget Sound (Seattle area) native... that sounds about right. There's a reason we love flannel here!

Yes!! In Singapore this summer and my boss said I'd adjust to the heat. I guess I did bc I started moving SO slow
by Anonymous2 years ago
Singapore's hot all year round anyway and it doesn't get any cooler unless the monsoon season decides to show up

OP has never worked customer service in a southern hot place and it shows.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Or a place like India, it doesn't seem cold or laid back there based on some of the train videos i've seen at least.

Are northerners actually more hurried than people in the south?
by Anonymous2 years ago
No. This is odd generalizing nonsense.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I think it applies to me. When I stayed in Virginia for one summer, I was the one over going over 40. Everyone else took their time.
by Anonymous2 years ago
So why don't they slow down when it's hot in the summer then?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Rushing to get to air conditioning.

Have to stock up for winter!

Everyone in the Southern Hemisphere is confused right now.

You have no idea how right you are, like im serious the productivity is even higher in cold nations and there an argument saying that the reason that first world is mainly in the north region is because we had more reason to advance to point we could travel to the warm south and conquer. Like dude, you have no idea how much the temperature affects your life and your history

Can confirm. Is too hot, so we don't leave the house unless we have to. :(

Hookworms in the south
by Anonymous2 years ago
This is where the stereotypical "slow" southern drawl came from. You all had hookworms...
by Anonymous2 years ago
I love the story of it. Rockefeller and a team of drs went down to cure people and they were met with anger. How dare you accuse us of being filthy and having worms
Lol
Grew up in Texas and had many babysitters as a kid.
The oldest ones who grew up in the south were very adamant about short fingernails, washing hands before meals, cooking food properly

My guy, if you mean America specify America, good number of people have no idea what you are talking about.

There may be some potential veracity to this as the physics of contraction and expansion from thermal conditions could cause the distance between synapses to increase causing a slight delay in neural transmission speeds.
