Why do you think this is unpopular?

In my experience, some people just don't empathize/sympathize with that. My manager scoffed at me for being depressed at work, when I told him, saying; "you'll be fine you'll get another one. It's not like your brother died."

This is not unpopular. I've lost pets and every time it happens, I lose a little bit of my heart. They family and we mourn them when they pass.

Why does anyone need to take the grief a stranger feels over the death of a rabbit more seriously than it's already taken?
