You should watch Jackson Galaxy's video on caring for cats with special needs. He recommends focusing on the senses they do have. For example, hiding treats around the house for them to find. Giving them toys that make noise or smell good. Giving them different surfaces to enjoy laying on.
This. Any cats with disabilities can be as happy as a normal cat or even more so if you care about them and give them things like this.
I have a deaf cat and I pat things around him and stomp so he can feel the vibration and know I'm there if he's asleep and he is the happiest idiot I've ever seen.
I don't see how it is any different to keeping a blind person alive. Humans rely more heavily on sight than almost any other animals, yet we can still have a good life without it.
"It just eats and sleeps all day. Is that a happy life for a Cat?" My non blind Cat lives like this.
Seriously though, what about animals only missing one eye? My Toad is missing his right eye. I'm in a wheelchair myself so I think if the disability is not reducing their quality of life they should be given a chance.
I actually have a blind kitten right now and it runs around playing with its siblings no problem outside of faceplanting into the wall every once in awhile.
Animals can adjust just like people do, honestly they probably handle disabilities better then most people do.
Cats don't have to see to be nosy, I've seen blind cats get into things and find things just as well as a seeing cat. They have really good senses and that helps them a lot.
Why is it cruel for the cat? Cats are inquisitive but they are finely tuned killing machines. If you left a blind cat in a room with a pet store mouse he would eventually catch it. Cat would adapt to have a normalish life way faster than a human. Could probably survive outdoors if you fed it.

Makes me happy to know this!
I'll forward this on to my friend. Thank you :) It makes me happy to know that maybe they can have a decent life, I just feel very sad for them.
I have an old blind cat and a blind husky that's 5 years old. I hope you suffer an infestation of bedbugs.
