The Sagrada Familia is incredibly ugly. amirite?
by Anonymous2 years ago
You ever been inside? That's where the magic is. The colour in there is insane on a sunny day.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I was not prepared for the sun through the windows
by Anonymous2 years ago
The windows are truly gorgeous on a sunny day. Those colors omg
by Anonymous2 years ago
The outside I'm not that fussed for, the inside is breathtaking. I'd seen pictures but there's nothing like seeing it in person.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Exactly. It's beyond breathtaking. And even beyond the prismatic windows, the organic shapes and tiered domes are so beautiful

>"Barthelona"
Very snarky, and I love it, lol
by Anonymous2 years ago
It's not quite my preferred style of architecture to say the least but I think it looks quite cool and unusual! Looks a little like castle that was taken from the sea and placed on land. It's a bit visually overwhelming I suppose. I can imagine not liking it.
by Anonymous2 years ago
We're gonna need examples of what you consider good architecture. STAT!
by Anonymous2 years ago
I live in Italy and i'm surrounded by 'traditional' churches and cathedrals. They are beautiful, but the Sagrada Familia is a breath of fresh air.
by Anonymous2 years ago
This is a true unpopular opinion I believe
by Anonymous2 years ago
You're not wrong. The different individual parts of the exterior of the Sagrada Familia are beautiful, but as a whole, it's less than the sum of its parts.
by Anonymous2 years ago
This is the perfect way to describe it
by Anonymous2 years ago
Heresy!!!
by Anonymous2 years ago
i bet this guy prefers brutalismo
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah, the exterior doesn't do it for me either. It's certainly very large though lol
by Anonymous2 years ago
People saying it looks awful has definitely not being inside.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Well, it definitely evoked an emotion in you. That's all art can ask for.
I was there 2 weeks ago and I gotta say it's monumental. Not good, not bad, just absolutely bonkers.
by Anonymous2 years ago
100% I've always felt it looks like it's melted in a house fire. Or cobbled together by some drunken hippie or that Hudertwasser kook in the desert. I think it's absolutely ghastly.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I have to agree 😬 maybe if I saw it in person I would have a change of heart..
by Anonymous2 years ago
Nah you wouldn't. Though it's worth taking a guided tour to see how it became this way (too many cooks in the kitchen)
by Anonymous2 years ago
I'm an architecture fan and I agree. I was so disappointed
by Anonymous2 years ago
Honestly I can only agree. It's an awful looking building.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Looks like a great place to do mushrooms.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Minus the crowds 🤣
by Anonymous2 years ago
I fully agree with you. The monstrosity that is above the main entrance. And what is it with the stupid fruit? I very much doubt that the current version has anything to do with the original plans.
Although I have to admit that I never ventured inside since I learned that it does not contain one straight line. I like straight lines.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Just looked it up. It's a monstrosity
by Anonymous2 years ago
the interior is inmaculate, also what is interesting about this building is that it has "easter eggs" and it conveys a story; the passion of christ.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You wouldn't recognise true art even if it knocked you flat out.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You sound like a grandpa.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Big Cranky Kong energy
by Anonymous2 years ago
It certainly is over-rated but I wouldn't call it ugly.
by Anonymous2 years ago
How can this be a masterpiece of architecture, if it takes 140 years and zillions of pesetas to build? It looks ugly and dirty too. Inside was kinda okay.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I've been there and toured it. The building is absolutely a masterpiece, period. But the saddest part is that people fawn over the building and this accomplishment of mankind, rather than venerating Jesus Christ, the Son of God much more than the mere building.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I don't naturally admire it at first glance like I do with Paris' Notre Dame cathedral for example. I have to tell myself how incredible it is. But then I do realize that it is pretty incredible and different in a refreshing way.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I think you must have some previous experience with psychedelics to truly appreciate it.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You either dig Gaudi or ya don't.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You're high. Or not high enough to understand the beauty in that building.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Now that's an unpopular opinion! The Sagrada familia is without a doubt one of the most impressing building in the world.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I've never cared for it either
by Anonymous2 years ago
Some people find the Sunflower painting by Van Gogh beautiful. I look at it think 'horrible'. Horrible colors and very melancholy . Just awful. And the only reason Mona Lisa is so precious and popular is it was stolen about a century ago. Being 'stolen' made if famous and thus it became extremely valued. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It like Marilyn Monroe (wow) versus Lizzo(bow wow)
by Anonymous2 years ago
You must see St Basil's Cathedral, in Russia, Most beautiful in the world!
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah. It's pretty gross.
by Anonymous2 years ago
the inside is really cool
by Anonymous2 years ago
Have you been inside? It's cool. The colors refract all over.
Gaudi was also hit by a train making the thing. It is somewhat famous because of who Gaudi was. It's his spiritual message. He was a super religious dude.
It's also not really supposed to be elegant. It's unique.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Unpopular opinion win. OP has zero sense of class, aesthetics, art or Design.
Do some research on the architect.
by Anonymous2 years ago
If you reduce whatever is happening by 50%, I think it'll look so much better
by Anonymous2 years ago
Have you even been inside?
by Anonymous2 years ago
I haven't seen it in real life, so I can't really judge.
But on photographs it does look like something that grew on a discarded loaf of bread.
