I prefer my jeans stretchy because regardless of your view on american waistlines, stretchy jeans are way more comfortable for an active lifestyle.

Its also because stretchy material is made from plastic and cheap. I miss being able to find clothes without polyester. It feels bad on the skin.

Polyesters tend to absorb heat. So, if it's warm, the poly fibers will take in heat from the air and if it is cold, they will steal it from your body. Puffy or engineered fabric will insulate and keep the coldest weather away, but to wear 50/50 poly cotton in an office or outdoors in temperate conditions, your comfort level is not aided by the artificial threads in your cotton.
Elastics have similar heat transfer properties, but on colder days, the fibers get skinny and let in more chill.
Also, polyesters tend to hold body odor better than natural ones, so you'll also need to add strong smelling laundry products to hide the body odor and maintain the static level of clingy unnatural cloth. Then, the smells accumulate, your nose gets desensitized and you go around reminding people who don't douse themselves in strong smells to cover up stink holding fabric of a laundromat vent, spewing miasma of assorted cheap stale perfumes and soap
