Comic sans is an ok font, people just kept overusing it to the point where it's a meme. Now we have cycled back to the point where it's underused even when it should be used.

It's only used ironically now

Comic sans is also really accessible for people with dyslexia or an attention deficit
by Anonymous1 year ago
Really? Thats wholesome
by Anonymous1 year ago
Yeah, I have lots of friends with adhd and dyslexia that really benefit from it!

Worked abroad in Asia as an English teacher and always used this font
by Anonymous1 year ago
It has real values for teachers for many reasons, but at least because comic sans forms the "a" the way people write it.
Still hate the font, but it has it's uses.
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's very readable on low resolution displays. Which was why it was created for Microsoft Bob back in the day

it's generally considered bad because it falls very awkwardly between standard typography and decorative typography. it's too inconsistent for standard usage, and it's not exaggerative enough for a lot of decorative usage. but, that's not to say it doesn't have some good uses. its aesthetic is sometimes desirable for decorative usage and it's also known to be a good accessibility font *because* of its inconsistent design. so, technically speaking it's more often an unsuitable font than not, but you could say the same about a *lot* of decorative fonts. it's definitely not a 'bad' font, just a niche one.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Just as long as you don't type your résumé in it.
by Anonymous1 year ago
No font is "bad" but there are certainly bad times to use certain fonts and Comic Sans has the unfortunate distinction of being used in many inappropriate places.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Are you familiar with wingdings?
by Anonymous1 year ago
There are definitely bad fonts out there...
by Anonymous1 year ago
It looks cheap, uninspired and is overused
by Anonymous1 year ago
Like ur mum
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's a meme it hate it. Like Nickelback.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I make fun of it because it's just funny to me now. I don't hate it. I just jumped on the hate wagon and I cannot get off
by Anonymous1 year ago
Not unpopular. Comic Sans has been hated since it was released almost 30 years ago.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Well, if u had these things called eyes you could see i wrote ISNT BAD in the caption
by Anonymous1 year ago
Damn, how could I miss that when I'm a four eyes!?
In that case, you're wrong. Comic Sans is horrible and only acceptable in comic settings. Anywhere else is just a no-no.

Several studies show that when students are presented text in comic sans they are more likely to remember what they are reading than standard fonts.
It's also been shown to help reading speed and fluency for those with dyslexia.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'll be happy to read the studies, as I have a few questions: is it exclusive to comic sans, or does it also apply to other "nonstandard" fonts? For kids with dislexia, how does it compare to other fonts, like a monospaced one?
by Anonymous1 year ago
There are about 10,000 better fonts for comics, too.
by Anonymous1 year ago
This immediately reminds me of the old McSweenys article.
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's dyslexic friendly and was also the font used in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I have nothing against it.
