As someone diagnosed and confirmed to have ADHD, this is sorta silly to me because you'll go to the doctor talking about the symptoms and then the doctor will inquire about your sleeping habits before assuming it's the result of some other disorder it's not like you'll immediately get prescribed simulants which you'll then continue to take the rest of your life. Even if the doctor rushes to prescribe stimulants, as you implied, it wouldn't help solve the root of the problem which is sleep deprivation so you'd still experience the symptoms which would be a pretty solid indication you don't have ADHD so there wouldn't be much harm done at all.
