If they aren't changing their gloves as oft as they should they are not going to be washing their hands

by Anonymous 9 months ago

They do, because you can feel when your hands are dirty. With gloves you don't feel that

As someone who wears gloves very often (biologist) you can absolutely feel when they're are dirty if you wear gloves often

Doubt

I mean it's not really an opinion based matter, kitchens where they use gloves are dirtier. It's not recommended

That's because it's not cost effective to change gloves as often as you'd need to in a kitchen setting. I use gloves at home and just be careful about changing them out, I wash my hands at work because I don't want to have to buy 1k gloves per week.

Fair point but even if they are, what's the point or throwing dozens of pairs of gloves a night? Super bad for the environment vs. soap and water.

>*I've seen people with gloves scratching their head, nose, touching random objects, etc.* That defeats the whole purpose of wearing gloves. Those people are gross.

by Anonymous 9 months ago

I mean that is just a random thing people complain about but no chef uses gloves here either

Nothing is grosser than watching someone at a Dunkin' Donuts or other fast food wearing gloves, then handling money, wiping down the counter with a cleaning rag and then preparing your food without changing gloves. See it at "mom and pop" take out places all the time as well The people in McDonald's don't change their gloves much either. The same gloves grabbing your hamburger bun are touching their sweaty hat/hair and the broom handle and who knows what else Gross people are going to be gross regardless and most people are gross

You only need to wear gloves if you are touching food that will then be eaten without being cooked to kill the possible bacteria and germs on your hands that you transferred to the food.

If I see kitchen staff touching ready-to-eat food without gloves I'm leaving and not coming back. You do you, though.

Leave a tip for the health department too!

yep and they can get nicked or torn and leave pieces of glove in the food

Don't you love some gloves juice in your food bro? 🧤

Gloves protect hands. Not food or diners. People are kind of simple for not realizing that.
