Based on most readings and interactions with self made millionaires, there's a definite mentality of "always looking out for number one" and being willing to use ambition in a way that hampers colleagues to get ahead.

if your shallow and dont mind oppressing people. But if you can do it actually being benevolent Then heck yeah. However, that is very very difficult in this society.
