+156 Shrek is the best movie of all time, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I've loved these movies for as long as I can remember. And when I say love, I mean I can quote the entire second movie

I think Shrek 2 or the last Puss & Boots were the best of the Shrek movies

Shrek is a serviceable film bound by its pop culture references. It won't be accessible or relatable in fifty years. The Godfather will be.

I did not care for The Godfather; it insists upon itself.

I had to google that one haha

Shrek 2 on the otherhand

These are referencing fairy tales that have lasted over a century and still used today. No ones going to remember the godfather in 50 years.

Look, I loved Shrek when I saw it in the cinema. I could've recited the entire movie for you at the age of 10, but you really need to watch that film again. And the sequel is built upon pop culture references. It relies on them to translate its humour. The Godfather won't be remembered in fifty years. Alright. Sure Citizen Kane joined the chat

People said the same thing about Bella Lugosi's Dracula back in the '30s when his career was washing up in the face of Boris Karloff's success & Lugosi's morphine addiction... Guess what movie is still iconic and referenced in media the world over 92 years after it's release?

The only movie that beats Shrek, is Shrek 2

How could you possibly think Shrek is better than the original Willy Wonka movie?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Now there is a classic! So many little details.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Agreed. Has this person never watched The Usual Suspects either.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nostalgia is how anyone convinces themselves that one iconic movie in a genre is objectively better than every other iconic movie in that genre. Guarantee you won't find someone older than 35 who thinks Shrek is anything more than an amusing parody of fairy tales that was heavily steeped in early-2000s pop culture.

Hot take: Shrek is a mediocre movie.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nah the animation looks horrendous now

by Anonymous 1 year ago

ur joking right

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I was going to argue, but i was being biased.... I think your right. Its good for all ages, any time of year, never gets old, the animation is good enough it will never look bad and it was an original story made from our collective childhood fairy tail memorys. It slaps for everyone.

What do you like about it outside of the comedy?

Low effort bait

Best movie of all time if you're 12 or under. Yeah yeah yeah I know there are themes and humor meant for adults tucked in there too, and sure it's entertaining, but in the same way that Marvel movies are entertaining. Fun, but basic and not very challenging.

You probably think the best food is McNuggets

Shrek is love. Shrek is life.

Shrek is just gross and overrated: If you want to explore the lives of ugly characters: A. Hunchback of Notre Dame and Beauty and the Beast had a more tasteful way to go about it than gratuitous toilet humour. B. I'm not sure there's anything unique to the lives of ugly characters that skinny, babyfaced guys ostracized for other things don't have their own analogies too.
