I understand what you're saying but I think it's possible to acknowledge humility in yourself.

Yeah; or even just ‚I'd like to think I'm humble‘, that's what I usually say when it comes up for whatever reason The Truth is people that are humble rarely ever have to say so directly, right? Like, the last time I mentioned it like that is when someone asked me what I think my own strenghts are, aside from that; why would you ever need to say that out loud to anyone except for if you're especially not humble and trying to cope?

Yes, this. Like, it is absolutely OK to accept that you are humble and it is OK to say you are humble time to time, but if they are trying to promote themselves all the time as humble then they are just trying to gain popularity which is not very humble.

I hear this all the time in the circles I run in and it aggravates me so much. If you ARE humble, you do not SAY that you are humble. Otherwise that negates all the humbleness you have.

It's impossible to be humble without first knowing the truth of who you are, and then accepting who you are as a person. If you're able to do this and discover you truly are a humble person, then saying so doesn't diminish your humility, but rather exemplifies it. Saying you aren't humble would actually be a lie, and only serves to protect one's imagine as others are under the false notion that speaking of yourself in such a manner is considered to not be polite and sounds like bragging. It's only not humble if you're wrong.
