+156 If you say stuff like "watching sports is stupid" or "athletes are idolized too much and/or overly privileged" but you watch movies and idolize actors/actresses, you're a hypocrite

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I don't think pro athletes or actors and actresses are overpaid. They only make as much as they do because "normal" people are willing to spend so much money on them.

This is an excellent point. The other option would be for execs to get even more overpaid. And that would be silly.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Well there's a third option… lower all salaries, sell tickets at cheaper prices, and charge like $4 for a hotdog instead of $10. But we know they'll never do that as long as people are willing to buy it all.

Pro sports tickets are so insanely overpriced tho.

I just hate it when people find things stupid or a waste of time just because they don't like them. Happens all the time.

Idolizing anyone that you don't know well or only see through a screen seems dumb to me

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I don't watch sports I watch movies but I agree with you 100%. Personally I don't idolize anyone but that's beside the point. Many people do so I get what you mean. Saying something is stupid just because I am not interested it is, well - stupid.

The type of people who usually are the ones to make fun of sports fans instead of just not liking them are the brony/furry/dnd stereotype of a person in their own way. So I'm sure the irony is lost on them.

Life is suffering or a lot of the time. It requires a distraction from the inevitable. Do what you want.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

What if I think athletes and celebs are grossly overpaid. I don't idolize anyone and I think the media and general public are far too obsessed with these people.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Thats a valid opinion, not a hypocrite

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Are they overpaid compared to how much money is generated by professional sports? I don't spend my time or money on it, but it is a massive entertainment industry. Absolutely cities should not be funding the stadiums and arenas, which would put a dent in the profits and the pay level of athletes, but beyond that their pay just reflects how many millions of people want to spend their time and money watching.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The people who are most anti-sports, are some of the biggest TV/movie fans I know. They hate having this hypocrisy exposed.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

There's nothing hypocritical about someone who values movies more than sports thinking athletes are overpaid and actors are not.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

No one said anything about liking one over the other. I'm saying if you call watching football stupid but watch movies you're a hypocrite. And if athletes are over paid how can you suggest that actors aren't?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Don't idolize or get overly invested or attached to celebrities or public figures. That goes for sports, music, acting, political figures, and DEFINITELY above all else, social media influencers. 🌠

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Anyone that idolizes either one outside of their charity work or if the person is in the same line of work seems dumb to me. You're an adult. Looking up to someone near or around your age is weird especially if you aren't doing the same stuff they do.
