The hate towards chihuahuas is not needed. amirite?

Probably cuz a lot of owners treat them as an accessory and dont train them, because they are "harmless", but their incessant barking (got 3 across the street and you can hear them walking up and down the street like an alarm system) and their bityness and other annoying behaviour is obnoxious, BUT threats or actual violence towards them is insane!!!! That they are the least wanted dog breed sure no problem, i do blame that on terrible chihuahua owners though, but what you described is horrible and unacceptable

My friends have one called jay jay. Cutest sweetest dog ever. So cuddly. Some are uncontrollably yappy. But he wasn't. It all just depends with dogs. Kinda mean spirited to just hate on a breed imo, however.

I've never met a poorly trained Chihuahua, all Chihuahuas I've met were behaving perfectly fine and I have never understood the hate they get. The way people tend to pick and choose which animals they deem worthy of respect and dignity based on arbitrary factors is absolutely ridiculous. Sending much love to your little ones! ❤️

This is just untrue. I worked with dogs for 18 months last year, and chihuahuas are just an aggressive, manic breed. Breed them with something else and they're maybe less so, but you not liking it won't change the fact of what they are.

Pitbull hatred is VERY widespread and accepted, to the point that in some places they get automatically confiscated and killed, so kind of a bad example, and I'm not sure where you were going with that. But I agree that chihuahuas don't deserve the hate. Every chihuahua I've known irl has been a polite well-behaved little dog.

It's easy to see they are the result of severe unnatural genetic interference. No real dog would ever survive if it was that small and annoying. So it's basically another cruel science experiment for people to have a cute pet that fits in a handbag, but the poor things are probably really suffering inside.

I love Chihuahuas. I've met some VERY poorly behaved ones but honestly I don't blame them, if I were treated like a yappy stuffed animal or purse accessory I would start biting too. The ones that were given actual dignity have always been goofy, affectionate little creatures with maybe two brain cells but lots and lots of love (and farts)

They are also overly blamed. I've seen cops call bulldogs and labs pitbulls. And that's also been well documented and with a quick search of your own. I've owned the breed throughout my life and find them to be just big love bugs. There are no bad dog breeds. Just bad people.

So I worked in a vet clinic for a few years. The meanest dogs were the smaller breeds. The derpiest were the bigger breeds and the lovebugs were the middle sized breed which ended up being pitties. We all had been bitten by the chihuahuas and Pomeranians. Rarely ever even growled at by the bigger dogs. I would also never threaten to harm a dog just based on breed unless that dog attacked first.

So because it's just a little bite, it's okay? They're unpleasant, they do bite, and I would rather be without a dog at all than with one. And bringing up pit bulls to somehow make it better is like saying that you only shot someone with a 22, good thing it wasn't a shotgun. Ridiculous. And I do not have a pit bull, although every one I met was sweet and affectionate. Have a black mouth cur, and an English mastiff.

I don't hate chihuahuas, but they have almost all be over bred into neurotic messes. So, out of the many dozens I've met, I've met a single one that was actually somewhat stable, mentally. Keep in mind too, if a chihuahua was the size of a pit bull, they'd be far more dangerous. That said, let's start pushing for people to properly breed these dogs into a dog that can be better again.
