Slicing bread on an industrial scale to sale for mass market consumption. Bread was always sold as loaves and sliced by the consumer because it stayed fresher longer. A lot of smaller bakeries will still sell whole loaves to this day. 12 millennia not millenniums

No, 1928 was the advent of a machine to do it and sell it pre-sliced.
